I noticed that, too. They focus so much on hardware, but to me, the Kindle is more about features and about reading experience. They focused a lot on the screen on the Aura being flush with the bezel. I mean, really, that's more important to some people than an improved e ink display? I don't know, I think once you love either device, it's hard to switch so we are eternally biased

I own a PW1 and also pre-ordered the PW2. What can I say, I love my new gadgets. Besides, I KNOW I will use it all the time, since I read every day on my PW1. Yes...and I keep looking at some of the features and thinking "WANT!" But then I read another thread about someone who had to do a factory reset. I've owned Kindles since the Kindle 1, and never had to do a factory reset, and only had a Kindle freeze up on me one time--that time it was fixed with a simple re-boot.

If the factory reset on a Kobo Glo you read about recently was my post, I had to do it due to my own fault when attempting to hack it. It was not Kobo's fault AT ALL. It was me failing to follow directions.

And for people psyched about the 25% faster processor on the new PW2....now it will equal what the Kobo Glo already has. It won't exceed it. Do the math...800 mhz x 25% = 1000 mhz. (Ok I suck at math and it's early in the morning....but when I ran the figures last night, that's what I got).

I've had my PW1 for nearly a year, hubby got his in February. His screen is far better than mine so do I buy the new one (I have pre ordered) or report mine and ask for a replacement? It was my second model so I figured it was the best I could get, until hubby got his that is. I've just lived with it.

I have a three year warrenty on it.

Should I be waiting for this PW2 has there been any reviews about how the lighting has been improved? I may go with the Kobo Aura if the wait is going to be very long for Canada once again.

I hope you all enjoy your units however, I look forward to how people feel about them once they have them in hand. It looks like I will have to wait or go with another brand.

When I look at amazon.ca, it looks like they are up for pre-order, and will start shipping on October 10. Are you not seeing that?

Call Kindle support and talk with them. Tell them what you told us and see what they say.

Mine has no color smudges it does get cloudy sometimes but I am positive it's temperature related as my K4 does this too. I have two tiny pin holes in mine but that's about it.

Thanks Blossom. I just did actually, I thought it couldn't hurt. They are sending a replacement and shipping it next day delivery so I get it tomorrow as I go on holiday at the end of next week so I need to do this fast. I couldn't have asked for better service.

I should have done thos back wehen hubby got his. My smudges at the bottom are there all the time, what ever light I am in and extend above the line into the text. I only see the blue smudge in dark conditions with the light on at about 3/4

TBH I'd probably still like a new one, but I could wait a year, but I would want to sell mine on, so worried about complaints from any potential buyer.

Mine has a huge blotch of light at the bottom. I will post a pic later and if you folks think it's bad, I'll call about a replacement. Though I'll lose my skin and all my cool hacks.

If you're within the warrenty period it can't hurt, I probably would never have thought anything about it except hubby bought his, so I can see the difference. I did get American CS so i'm not sure if that helped as they were very accomodating.

To be clear, whether the crisper text is "important" to you or not is a question of personal preference. Nobody is trying to convince anyone that they would benefit from the higher screen resolution.
