It was more of the hoopla from a week or so ago where the author falsely stated she'd gotten threats because of the name of someone's shelf on Goodreads. You can read the blog post which set it off HERE though he later retracted (kind of) his endorsement of STGRB (which there's more about in the comments in case you are unfamiliar with that site's tactics).

you generally cannot gift the free books (or authors would do thousands, to inflate their numbers even more).

one exception I've seen is at christianaudio.

For gifting, the receiver must be able to purchase the same asin at amazon. At Kobo, that isn't the case. In either store, the gift pays his price (with tax, if applicable); the price where the receiver lives is not used.

Don't know for sure. Assuming it's the same publisher (it often isn't) the price should be whatever it costs the person doing the gifting, but I've never tried it to know for sure.

Ah Okay! Yes I know about that drama. I don't know why I like to read about stuff like that but it's sometimes entertaining and sometimes if it involves a big author I need to see the words spoken for myself.

I am home finally. They kept me awhile. They gave me a really big shot of Antibiotics. Wow did that hurt! They wouldn't let me leave till they saw how the shot affected me. I also got some pill form antibiotics to take.

A shot is probably better even thought it hurt more, for some reason I think it starts to work more quickly/efficiently! Hope you start feeling better very very soon.*one more hug for good measure*

Yeah, the drama wasn't new. The guy who wrote this particular blog post posted it yesterday so people got upset again re: STGRB being held up as an example of how to act on the internet
