That's great; I've been using Calibre to download my articles. The Kobo Glo is a great way to read long-form articles or snippets of news off the web. I subscribe to a whole bunch of RSS feeds and each day I quickly go through them and send the articles I find interesting off to Pocket. Once in a while I'll also go through Longform and the Readability Top Reads and send anything interesting there off as well. Being able to sync right on the reader instead of having to load up Calibre, wait for it to download, connect my KG and then send it off will be wonderful, especially when I'm away from my computer but near wifi.

This is actually one of my most looked-towards features announced this week.

Same for me, but I'm using Instapaper. So I've created a Pocket account to use this feature as soon as it's available for me.

You can use IFTTT to automatically send articles from Pocket to Instapaper...

I had almost forgot about Pocket. I used the Read It Later app heavily a couple of years back now I believe. If I remember correctly I upgraded to the RIL pro version of said app.

As for using Pocket on my Aura HD when the update comes down the pike. Not too sure if I will. When this was announced I remembered the Pocket account and went looking for the site to see if I could access said account and see what if any articles was still there. Luckily Chrome has been my preferred browser so the credentials were saved in there because I no idea at all what they were, it's seriously been that long.

While I can understand those who read fanfic, not knocking it as I read it as well, who will use Pocket to import into their reader I too wondered if they didn't have Calibre. Because the fanfiction downloader plugin would download and convert to ebook for them, I've used it and it works better than I thought it would. But then Pocket will save any webpage to your account and is not restricted to certain major fanfiction domains to work.

But I digress. As I said I probably wouldn't use it because I have my Pocket importing into Flipboard on my tablets so I doubt I'll use Kobo integration unless it is recorded as being quick and flawless. Also depends on whether you can download entire articles to your reader then disconnect wifi to avoid having to leave your wifi on the entire time you use it.

I don't put on wifi on my readers (or tablet for that matter) unless I particularly need to do so for the likes of downloading/synching books etc. I find it saves on the battery long term.

Anyway its nice to have options. Not everyone is lucky enough to have tablets, pcs, laptops and other goodies and maybe the only way they could use Pocket would be through Kobo for reading their saved articles.

One thing I loved on Pocket was the ability to save/send an article which caught my eye, but I didn't have time to read then, until later when I had time. I loose count of the times I remember seeing something of interest but when I go back to find it cant find it at all. So Pocket is a handy service. I've actually installed the Chrome browser add on to allow me to send to Pocket anything I want to read in depth later on. So even if I don't necessarily use Pocket on my Kobo I will be using Pocket more often regardless.

I find I prefer reading things I save to Pocket (or Instapaper or Readability) on my Glo simply because it's far easier to read on an eInk screen than a computer screen. I also spend long stretches in front of computer screens at work (I have 4 on my desk as I type this), so any chance to get away from screens is great. Getting web articles off of a computer screen is big for me, and it's really nice to have your own little curated newspaper available to you.

I'll be interested to see how they implement this. Lack of a read it later solution is why I passed my Kobo Mini over to my other half and bought myself a Nook ST.

Integration with Pocket without having to plug my reader into my computer to hook it up with Calibre was my holy grail. I miss the small size of the Mini, this might get me buying another one.

I'm not sure that I would use it as I would prefer to read it on my phone or tablets but I do like the sound of it.

It sounds interesting but I rather would like Feedly integration or a similar service.

Feedly is a news aggregator application for various Web browsers and mobile devices running iOS and Android, also available as a cloud-based service. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others.

Up to this point I have been using Calibre with the Pocket plugin/filter and it works OK - it gives you a table of contents with article summaries for whatever is in your "unread" area. Each heading is like a chapter marker, and you tap on it to go to the article. I've set up a nice font format that I like, and I spent a cottage weekend getting through a huge backlog of articles I had built up!

But integrated support might be even better. Especially if it will sync with the archiving function once you're done an article. Not immediately, obviously, as I don't think anyone wants their Kobo's wifi on all the time... but as long as it syncs when it's on wifi/tethered, that's awesome.

The best part about this news is the fact that if you turn your phone into a wifi hotspot (I use FoxFi), you'll be able to use your phone to save an article to pocket, and then sync your Kobo right away via Wifi, and be reading the new article on the Kobo in no time. I just wish I could sideload books onto the Kobo the same way

Try Calibre - there are a variety of website subscription recipes/filters that will pull content on the interval that you specify. There may be a feedly one that works like the Pocket one, but if not you can still subscribe to wifi feeds using calibre.

Also, maybe try https://ifttt.com/recipes/114314 now to see how well it works
