There isn't even a note in the kindle forum, no note anywhere, maybe the order page is an error?

It looks like 6" still. Bummer. Granted it's not a good photo, but that font looks terrible. Hopefully, they've fixed all the light / diffusion layer issues. It has not been an exciting year for eink reader. I would get the aura hd if not for the weird back and the large waste of top/bottom space. |

 >>It has not been an exciting year for eink reader. I would get the aura hd if not for the weird back and the large waste of top/bottom space. << eink is getting to be a mature technology and it looks like the growth is in the tablet market. Because I love to read on eink and I'm never going to read on a tablet, I am encouraged to see any improvements at all, and that companies still see the market as viable enough to keep introducing new models. eP |

Same resolution? Still, it looks like the best of the slightly upgraded versions this year, and the price is competitive.

From new PW specs..."Carta e-paper technology" ? Does anyone know what this is and and how it differs from last years screens? It seems to me that if the screen was the big improvement we have been waiting for, then Amazon would be shouting about it and not leaving it hidden away in the specs. I don't seem to find them bragging about refresh every 100 turns instead of 6... that makes me a bit scared.

Fingers crossed it'll be an international launch, and not US-only. No sign of it on amazon.co.uk so far, although the old WiFi Paperwhite has disappeared (but the PW 3G is still there).

It's the Office of Plausible Deniability and they operate out of the IT dept. Makes it easier to blame it on a software glitch or accidental keypress, etc.

Why spend money on a dog and pony show? It's going to sell anyway. Think of it as tight-fisted Amazon figuring an "accidental" leak will be more cost-effective. By the way, the new screens are called Carta and they *are* exclusive to Kindle. (Vizplex ---> Pearl ---> Carta.) Last edited by fjtorres; 09-03-2013 at 12:59 PM. |

I checked and the UK release was 25th October last year but I'm not sure when it released in the US
