I thought the whole point of OPDS was to access ebooks over HTTP, no?

That's right, but Calibre is not capable of this.

I personally use calibre to fill the database, and COPS to access my database with my ebook-reader (or mobile phone, or browser). f. |

So your Calibre can only 'fill' the database if you access it over the local network?

	Kind-of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? |

I use Calibre to manage my books on my Computer. I can add books, add metadata, convert books and so on. Calibre is the best tool for this (IMO).

COPS runs on my (24/7 running) NAS, which I can access from everywhere. For me it is the perfect solution, YMMV. |

Ok, thanks for your help @fatzgenfatz. I have a clearer picture of what exactly COPS is offering.

I'll install 0.6.1 ... but where can I get 'pre 0.6.2' ? Can't find an archive on the github ![]() EDIT: could you put the COPS version back in it's info screen ? I'm getting a bit confused by the various COPS versions that I've now got installed ... results from whatsmyua.com : PRS-T1 (firmware 1.0.05.11130) : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; en-us; EBRD1101; EXT ) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1 Kobo Touch (firmware 2.6.1) : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.0; en-us; ) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1 (Kobo Touch) Last edited by Goner; 09-01-2013 at 06:59 PM. |

As already stated Calibre has an OPDS server but cannot read OPDS feeds. COPS is an OPDS server and also cannot read OPDS feeds. @itimpi I think you meant (I removed a not) : Calibre does not officially support Calibre libraries that are on network drives. @Goner, Glimm Could you try to install Github version in a new directory to be sure that your Kindle did not cache a previous one. |

Installed the 0.6.2 (from cops_master.zip) in it's own, new folder cops062 on my Synology DS212j and also in XAMPP under Windows XP ...

The PRS-T1 connects just fine to COPS 0.6.2 in XP, but not on the NAS just an empty screen.Tried some earlier versions and it works fine with 0.5.0, but not with 0.6.0 and higher (only on the NAS, on the PC all versions work) The Touch connects fine to both installs and all versions. So I'm confused ... (to check if I'm connected to the right version I edited about.html in 0.6.0 and 0.6.1), but In noticed that in 0.6.2 the version is displayed in the info screen but in about.html there only is ; <h1>About COPS</h1>) I'll look into it again tomorrow, too late for this kind of problems right now. |

			I (re)tested COPS 6.1 (Github) on my Synology DS110j.

[DSM 4.3-3776 : 2013/08/17] I did not test everything, just the basic functionality Findings: - OPDS clients => worx - Firefox (OSX & Windows) => worx - Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 => worx - Safari on iOS 6 (iPad 3 and iPhone 4) => worx - Safari on OSX 10.8.4 => worx - Safari on OSX 10.6.8 => problems with showing covers in lightbox (see added screenshot) User agent info in second screenshot. [longshot: it can have something to do with caching, I will clean the cache when I'm finished with some other browsing tasks] {do not try to fix this, as Safari has no ePub-reader plugin, so is pretty useless for reading e-books }- when opening COPS in a browser it sometimes takes some time before the grey window shows something. the server is not busy (tested with top) and the client is fast enough (Intel Core 2 duo 2.0 GHz). This also happens (most noticeably) when I go to the menu item "recent additions". the screen does not change for some time giving the impression nothing happens (but the browser is hard at work, CPU goes up but not to 100%. Last edited by mariosipad; 09-03-2013 at 06:13 AM. Reason: added DSM version |
