Only sometimes? *blink* I must be doing something wrong.
I got that one for free from Smashwords a few years ago. I have to check out the Audible.

Attention:

Okay anyone who brought The Proposition by Jennifer Lyon on my recommendation. I hope you only paid 99 cents for it. I'm so sorry it came highly recommended by well known authors. I paid full price and the story just ends without a conclusion or cliffhanger. It not even a part one it's like half of a beginning or part one. I am pretty ticked right now and just did a review for it on GR warning people about this. I will never buy another book like this unless it's 99 cents. $2.99 is what I think I paid for it. Never again!

Well, there are times I feel like screaming at you for enabling me to go over budget. But the little guy on my shoulder says I should thank you instead.

I thought Part 2 is Possession - it's $2.99. I wanted to get The Proposition, so I've been keeping my eye on the series, but I have a rule about not buying serials until they are complete as I HATE abrupt endings and cliffhangers. Plus, I want to see how many parts there are and what the final pricing will be before I commit.

I have ruled out so many books as a result of this - I guess that's probably a good thing - anything that keeps me from buying more books is a plus, not a minus.

I think I've just gotten used to this trend. I did read The Proposition and rated it a 4, and I just checked and bought book 2 at Kobo with a coupon but haven't read it yet. I think I'm used to the whole cliffhanger thing, with TV and all leaving us hanging at the end of a season, I just don't let it bother me I guess. But that's just me, and I did enjoy the book from what I rated it. *shrugs* I get more upset with horribly written books, and the more I pay the more upset I get! LOL

I really enjoyed Envy (I have all of her books through 2010 in hardcover). The earlier single title books (90s - 2008) have more romance than her more recent releases.

My favorites by her are the old skool romances (Slow Heat in Heaven and Mirror Image).

I would stay clear of Rainwater (a book I wanted to throw against the wall ) and Standoff (which I remember not liking but don't recall why )

Also, her older category romances (Loveswept, Silhouette Desires/Imtimate Moments written as Erin St Claire, and Candlelight Ecstacy written as Rachel Ryan) are quite different than her single title releases. Not sure well some have stood the test of time, but her single releases starting in the mid-90s are much more suspense driven. So if you don't like one of her books, she's profilic enough that I would give her another try. She's written a lot of straight contemporary romances, historicals, and suspense/mysteries.

On the one hand I'm glad I nabbed a bargain, on the other I'm sorry you paid more than you had to . Still, I suppose if you considered the book worth the price at the time, then it was money well spent. I guess that's the idea behind a lot of these price drops - entice people in with a tasty sample and if they love the book, they'll pick up the rest in the series.

Just came across this long novella for $0.99. I love older woman/younger man stories, and Delilah Marvelle writes Regencies and Victorians with an edge so I was sold as soon as I read the description.

Romancing Lady Stone

And, in a completely different vein, The Trouble With Cowboys by Melissa Cutler is currently on sale for $1.99. It has great reviews and combines two of my favorite themes - food and cowboys.

I thought I was getting a book so no it was a rip off. It says Book one it's more like Episode 1 there is no book to this it's not even a story it's just a intro of the characters 120 pages of slow beginnings. She needs to let people know it's a serial instead of claiming it's a book.

That's just it, it didn't end on a cliffhanger like other books out there. It ended right after the beginning. It was like half a novella. It was like reading 5 chapters 120 pages for $3 just isn't worth it. I gave it 2 Stars. I thought the story was okay but some of her words just turned me off. It needed some serious rework as the some if it just didn't flow and there was hardly any believable chemistry between the couple. I was going to give it 3 stars then the ending happen and that bump it down to two stars for me.

Wait for the final price. You will be disappointed otherwise. The first book needs some editing as well. It's 99 cents now I paid $2.99. I wish I could get my money back but I bought it at Kobo.

I am so tired of high ratings on these type of books just because the hero is supposedly so hot! When did romance turn into such a superficial genre?!? I suppose mainstream hasn't gone that way yet. Thanks goodness! It's mostly indies with their fan girldom. It's so hard to know what to buy anymore that is really worth reading.

That's why I now rely upon MR for recommendations. Especially as I've come to recognize the people who share my taste in books.
