No, cats play the long game. They let you think they've trained them to do something, but really they only go along with it if it was something they wanted to do anyway

So true! There are very smart ones out there! My youngest loves to open drawers and cabinets and she knows where the treats are I had to put them in a Tupperware sealed tight container because she would tear through the cabinet and drawers looking for them then eat the whole bag which made her sick! She still does this but has not figure out how to open the container thank goodness! She just scoots it around and then gets all huffy with me. It's like having a two year running around who can reach high places.

My oldest will come when I point my finger down and call her name but my youngest looks at me with her evil eyes and mentally gives me the finger. Then when I stop calling her and pretend do something she comes and jumps in my lap. So defiant.

My oldest will plot her huge hiney down on hubby's lap and refuse to budge. Dig claws in and all. (those two are comical to watch.) They have a love/hate relationship. Her favorite thing to do is annoy daddy when he comes home! She gets on the arm of his recliner and they fight for space and she eventually wins and lays in his lap. She's 11 years old and weighs 14 pounds. then the youngest gets jealous and takes the other side and poor hubby he is not a cat lover at all. *snicker*

I have learn I can yell no and say no with command in my voice but unless I act like I am going to get up and do something the cats act like they are deaf.

We use the spray bottle method with our youngest and she hates it so it works sometimes but my oldest will come running and open her mouth for a drink.

My cats so own me! Automatic Feeder, Check, Water Pet Fountain, Check, Automatic Litter box, Check, New Toys every time I go shopping, check,

Okay enough about my babies before you think I've lost it.

I once read that cats are considered to have the intelligence and emotional maturity of a two year old - that pretty much sums up everything you need to know about them (especially the fact that they they are so darned good at saying "no" )

Oh, YAY, this one's been on my wishlist before it even came out, $.99 today only apparently, high ratings at GR as per usual criteria...
Fixed on You by Laurelin Paige

blurb: Fixed on You is the first book in a trilogy but ends without a cliffhanger. Due to mature material, it is recommended for ages 17+.

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither's past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out--move up at the nightclub she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect plan. But what Alayna didn't figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He's smart, rich, and gorgeous--the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson's fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it. Avoiding him isn't an option after he offers a business proposition she can't turn down and she's drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she's fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.
end of blurb, onto chatter....

Our power's been out all morning so I feel all out sorts and trying to catch up. But I'm a dog person, I have a bichon-shitzu who is very aptly named 'Princess'. I swear she doesn't think she's a dog at all. And my hub has 2 labs, one English and one American. We always joke we're the 'crazy dog people', and they're all totally spoiled rotten!

Last Man Standing (Black Ops #7) by Cindy Gerard $1.99

This is really timely for me! I just picked up the 2 Black Ops bundles last night but hadn't gotten this one yet.

Quote:
Black Ops, Inc. operative Joe Green is determined to bring to justice the man responsible for former team member Bryan Tompkins’s death. He’s convinced the ambush that killed Bryan was no coincidence, but a setup. Unsure of the consequences of the battle he’s about to start, Joe distances himself from both his Black Ops, Inc. team members and the woman he loves, Bryan’s sister, Stephanie Tompkins. But Stephanie knows there must be some reason Joe broke it off, and when she hears Joe’s charged with a murder in Sierra Leone, she wastes no time in breaking him out of prison. Then they must unravel the mystery behind the ambush, and bring resolution to a long-ago betrayal….

Anybody else have those "oh crap" moments when adding books to Calibre and the duplicates found window pops up? Then you think you just bought a book you already own until you read through the list and confirm they're all by different authors! whew

This is a really good book, too. And I say that having paid full agency pricing when it released.

She's an autobuy author for me. There were 4 or 5 authors I was willing to pay full agency pricing for and she's one of them.

Did you read her Bodyguards series? The series is really hit-or-miss for me, but Black Ops Inc is a spin-off from it and my absolute favorite couple of hers from the first book (Show No Mercy) in the BOI series were introduced in the last of the Bodyguards books, Into the Dark. You could read Show No Mercy first, but I really think you will like it more if you read Into the Dark beforehand.

Here's a list of the order of the related series. I have also listed it with the couples names and my ratings in the spoiler section (since I know some new-to-a-series folks may consider the couples a spoiler).

Bodyguards
1) To the Edge (May 2005)
2) To the Limit (Sept 2005)
3) To the Brink (Jan 2006)
4) Over the Line (June 2006)
5) Under the Wire (Dec 2006)
6) Into the Dark (June 2007)*

*Black Ops Inc (series is a spin-off of Bodyguards, many characters introduced in Into the Dark)
1) Show No Mercy (Oct 2008)
2) Take No Prisoners (Nov 2008)
3) Whisper No Lies (Jan 2009)
4) Feel the Heat (Sept 2009)
5) Risk No Secrets (May 2010)
6) “Leave No Trace” (Sept 2010)
7) With No Remorse (July 2011)°
8) “SEALed with a Kiss” in SEAL of My Dreams anthology (Nov 2011)
9) Last Man Standing (Feb 2012)°
10) “Dying to Score” in Love is Murder anthology (June 2012)

°One-Eyed Jacks (series is a continuation of Black Ops, Inc, some characters introduced in With No Remorse/Last Man Standing)
1) Killing Time (Feb 2013)
2) The Way Home [Nov 2013] <not yet released>
3) Running Blind [ 2014] <not yet released>
4) Taking Fire [2014] <not yet released>
Spoiler:
Bodyguards
1) To the Edge - Nolan & Jillian (May 2005) <2 stars>
2) To the Limit - Eve & Tyler (Sept 2005) <3 stars>
3) To the Brink – Ethan & Darcy / slightly Dallas & Amy (Jan 2006) <5 Stars>
4) Over the Line – Jason & Janey (June 2006) <1 star>
5) Under the Wire – Manny & Lily (Dec 2006) <3 stars>
6) Into the Dark – Dallas & Amy / Gabe & Jenna (June 2007)* <4 stars>

*Black Ops Inc (series is a spin-off of Bodyguards, many characters introduced in Into the Dark)
1) Show No Mercy – Gabe & Jenna / Nate & Juliana (Oct 2008) <5 stars>
2) Take No Prisoners – Sam & Abbie (Nov 2008) <1 Star>
3) Whisper No Lies – Johnny & Crystal (Jan 2009) <2 stars>
4) Feel the Heat – Raphael & BJ / Joe & Stephanie (Sept 2009) <3 stars>
5) Risk No Secrets – Wyatt & Sophie / Nate & Juliana (May 2010) <3 stars>
6) “Leave No Trace” – David & Carrie (Sept 2010) <3 stars>
7) With No Remorse – Luke & Valentina (July 2011)° <3 stars>
8) “SEALed with a Kiss” - Luke & Valentina (Nov 2011) <2 stars>
9) Last Man Standing – Joe & Stephanie (Feb 2012)° <4 stars>
10) “Dying to Score” – Johnny & Crystal (June 2012) <2 stars>

°One-Eyed Jacks (series is a continuation of Black Ops, Inc, some characters introduced in With No Remorse/Last Man Standing)
1) Killing Time – Mike & Eva (Feb 2013) <4 stars>

Just FYI, my star system is
5 stars = A- or A or A+ range = A real favorite! Can still have flaws, but a book where I really love the characters and the story (at least for the most part).
4 stars = B or B+ range = A very enjoyable read that just misses being five stars for various reasons. But overall I really like the h/h and plot.
3 stars = C+ or B- range = An average or slightly above average read where I liked the characters but the book had plot flaws or where I really love the hero and not the heroine or vice versa but the plot was fairly good.
2 stars = D+ or C- or C range = Often still an average or slightly below average book, just with more flaws than a 3 star. I may have disliked major parts of the plot or really disliked either the h/h or both or they did a lot of TSTL stuff. Or a below average book which has enough redeeming qualities that keep it from being a 1 star.
1 star = F or D range = A book in which I really didn’t like the characters plus poorly plotted or even where it had a promising start and likeable characters, but the middle/ending totally blew it. For the most part I will only keep 1 star book by my absolute favorite authors and/or if they are part of a series.
If you don't want to read all of the Bodyguards, I would just read To the Brink (because it introduces the couple of the last book) and Into the Dark.

Oh and both of the short stories (8 and 10) in the Black Ops Inc series are totally okay to skip. They are short stories, not even novella length.

I did. It was inconsistent for me, liked some others not so much. I've also read book 1 from Black Ops and liked it but got away from the series.
