T1 & T2 are about 165 grams. Their lightness was their only boasting point. So the T3 is 20% heavier. Hmmm.

I'd possibly be interested in a new Sony, but not with those specs at those prices.
But it's a Sony

Remember that additional weight probably includes a cover and possibly a light. Add in the weight of the cover on your T1 or T2 and see if you don't come up to those numbers.

Cover would add weight for sure, but to burst the bubble of those who are hoping extra weight means built in light: the Kobo Touch (no light) and Kobo Glo (with light) are listed as identical weight. They are nearly identical other the light (Glo is maybe 1/4" shorter) and probably as close to identical lit vs not versions as you're going to find.

The original Sony cover without light for T1 weights 80 Grams.

The original Sony cover with light for T1 weights 132 Grams with battery and 120 Grams without battery.

I have just read of too many problems with Kobo firmware in the Kobo forum. I have been spoiled by Sony and Amazon as far as firmware for the reader goes. I don't want to have to be chasing bugs.

I would have liked a front lit Sony but won't buy one without, even with a built in light on the cover. I'll stick with my kindle. All my books are DRM free so the make of device doesn't bother me.

It's a shame about the Kobo issues. Maybe their next generation will provide fixes.

I have been extremely satisfied with my PRS-300 and had been looking forward to the T3, so I guess I ought to reserve any final judgement on it until it hits the shelves and I get a hands-on. (It's just going to have to offer something really special to stack up against my wife's Kindle PW!)

I have two kobos, and I totally agree. I have had troubles with both, I am not even using my Aura anymore and am selling it now, am just keeping the Mini because I like the form factor but although it worked fine the first two months I had it, it lately started bugging a lot and I have to factory reset it on a regular basis.

I am still using my PW, and I really really like it.

From what I've heard Moon+ Reader on Android, the Amazon Paperwhite and the Sony Portable Reader System are the best and most stable Systems in the world for reading Electronic Books.

The Sony PRS-T3 will be my very first Sony Reader. I'm so happy.

I was hesitant after reading so many negatives, too, but I decided to take a chance, and the Kobo Glo is fantastic. I like it better than the Paperwhite. It is lighter and the light is much more even. The text is much more customizable, and the collections can be managed with Calibre so easily. It's nearly perfect!

Actually they could be. In Japanese, one way to say 4 sounds like "death" (the same goes with 9 and "pain"). So hotels, hospitals... avoid 4 and 9 when numbering the rooms.

Regarding the new Sony, until recently it was only a guess that it will be indeed a T series model. Like many people I now prefer an ereader with a built-in light (believe me, it attracts less mosquitoes than an external light ). I could still buy a device without it, but the other specs have to be really good and the price has to be on the low side.

So far, we don't know for sure what to expect from the external light, the resolution isn't even HD and the price is higher than what I would pay. But with the price and the light (and likely the firmware), Sony are true to themselves and I tip my hat to that

For someone who who according to the bio at the bottom has been writing about e-readers for 4 years, he either has a really poor grasp of Overdrive or is a really poor writer and isn't explaining it well. From the way this is written you would think that Sony is the only company whose e-reader works with Overdrive at all. I assume he was trying to say they are the only ones you can download directly to the device with Overdrive.
Doesn't actually have a lot of new info. Same stuff off the retailer website "leaks" and same interview from last winter from Sony France.

Sony PRS T3 Has a September 19th Release Date.

It doesn't clear up if the light uses a flat button-type battery though or runs off the reader battery. And I'll never understand those who insist every device must have capacitive touch, that IR touch is somehow inferior. IR touch for me works perfectly. Other than an occasional bug triggering a page turn when I read outdoors in the hot summer months, it's perfect in all weather for me.

Edit: And that's the same link as speakingtohe already posted, I didn't check out his link first, sorry!
