Remember that additional weight probably includes a cover and possibly a light. Add in the weight of the cover on your T1 or T2 and see if you don't come up to those numbers.

Cover would add weight for sure, but to burst the bubble of those who are hoping extra weight means built in light: the Kobo Touch (no light) and Kobo Glo (with light) are listed as identical weight. They are nearly identical other the light (Glo is maybe 1/4" shorter) and probably as close to identical lit vs not versions as you're going to find.

I have just read of too many problems with Kobo firmware in the Kobo forum. I have been spoiled by Sony and Amazon as far as firmware for the reader goes. I don't want to have to be chasing bugs.

I would have liked a front lit Sony but won't buy one without, even with a built in light on the cover. I'll stick with my kindle. All my books are DRM free so the make of device doesn't bother me.

I have been extremely satisfied with my PRS-300 and had been looking forward to the T3, so I guess I ought to reserve any final judgement on it until it hits the shelves and I get a hands-on. (It's just going to have to offer something really special to stack up against my wife's Kindle PW!) |

From what I've heard Moon+ Reader on Android, the Amazon Paperwhite and the Sony Portable Reader System are the best and most stable Systems in the world for reading Electronic Books.
The Sony PRS-T3 will be my very first Sony Reader. I'm so happy. ![]() |

I was hesitant after reading so many negatives, too, but I decided to take a chance, and the Kobo Glo is fantastic. I like it better than the Paperwhite. It is lighter and the light is much more even. The text is much more customizable, and the collections can be managed with Calibre so easily. It's nearly perfect!

Regarding the new Sony, until recently it was only a guess that it will be indeed a T series model. Like many people I now prefer an ereader with a built-in light (believe me, it attracts less mosquitoes than an external light ![]() So far, we don't know for sure what to expect from the external light, the resolution isn't even HD and the price is higher than what I would pay. But with the price and the light (and likely the firmware), Sony are true to themselves and I tip my hat to that ![]() |

Doesn't actually have a lot of new info. Same stuff off the retailer website "leaks" and same interview from last winter from Sony France. |

Sony PRS T3 Has a September 19th Release Date.
It doesn't clear up if the light uses a flat button-type battery though or runs off the reader battery. And I'll never understand those who insist every device must have capacitive touch, that IR touch is somehow inferior. IR touch for me works perfectly. Other than an occasional bug triggering a page turn when I read outdoors in the hot summer months, it's perfect in all weather for me. Edit: And that's the same link as speakingtohe already posted, I didn't check out his link first, sorry! ![]() Last edited by Ripplinger; 08-24-2013 at 02:34 PM. |
