Incidentally the attachment has the source code AND the executable AND the example tools - all bundled untidily in one ugly pile.
You're welcome ![]() EXECUTABLE: ibm1130 TOOLS: ibm1130software.zip Rest. Various source and junk ![]() Last edited by twobob; 08-21-2013 at 11:11 PM. |

Thanks a lot for that.
A challenge for some future time, when really, really, really, really bored - native compile it on our K5/370 or K5/390 to run on one of those mainframes. |

I don't think I've mentioned it, but I have a IBM 5362 sitting in my basement. Any chance we could port the PW over to it? (sigh) I didn't think so... plus there's the complication that IBM pulled the processor when they retired it, and I didn't get any terminals with it. Will kterm emulate a VT100?
OK, enough silliness for one day. Be good all. |

Your welcome. You might find a world of things wrong with this, it was very late at night for me and very early morning for twobob (we are 6 time zones apart). If you want to clean up our packaging, test a few of the software items, maybe even name what is in the 1130software archive . . . Feel free. Note: There is some information on the web page linked to in the first post. I think that bundle includes some compilers, including APL - now **THAT** should bring back memories (or nightmares). Maybe even RPG . (Both referred to at times as 'write only' computer languages.) |

Common Lisp for the 1130:
http://ibm1130.org/sw/lisp Could 1130/emacs be on the horizon? And, according to the web-site, you already have Fortran, APL and RPG (maybe others). See the goodies list at: http://ibm1130.org/sw Note: The comment on that page about Cobol is incorrect. Cobol/360 is public domain, part of our MVS-3.8j set of disk packs, and we may also have the source to it on those desk packs. If we have that source, it might be possible (on the K5/390) to cross-compile it for the 1130. { Hmm... cross-compile it (on the K5/390) to run native on the Kindle ARMv7l ?? Duh... } Note 2: There is another 45 years worth of mainframe software out there, if anyone has enough 'google credits' to search for it. Last edited by knc1; 08-22-2013 at 11:55 AM. |
