Then you should be able to receive the current firmware 2.8.1. Once that is installed you should be able to install the "1 Setp Hack" following the directions in the zip file. That is all that is required. Luck; Ken |

All, I am a daily user of koreader_old on a Glo with 2.5.2, Kobo Tweaks and the extra house button. Just for the record, even with all the limitations and bugs, koreader is fantastic. Besides the miraculous reflow, it opens many kinds of files that Kobo cannot (such as doc, djvu and chm) and makes it possible to use large SD cards filled with a mix of many files. Without these features I would consider the Kobo device very near worthless.
Three observations: 1. To the developers: Besides koreader_old I have tried several of the 2.6.x or better versions. None seem to tie into the rather extensive koreader menu system which as I understand it evolved on Kindle and requires a letterpress on a keyboard. koreader will be far more useful once those menu items are made accessible by an on-screen keyboard or some other means. 2. This is an important project for a major family of devices and should be treated like one. Obviously all versions of koreader should be on github. And this thread should soon be broken up into manageable sub-units e.g. releases, developer communications, feature requests, technical problems, etc. 3. I would gladly contribute half the cost of my device to a Kickstarter for the accelerated development of koreader. Besides equipping the known developers here, the funds could be used to draw in professional talent from the Kobo world and/or koreader coders from the Kindle side. |

Trying to add paid talent into a project like this might dampen the enthusiasm of those who have already contributed so much, and rightly view the project as theirs. Luck; Ken |

Regarding paid development - right now, Koreader development is purely volunteer based. And as far as I know, a lot of us (or even all?) have day jobs as well, so Koreader is a hobby that goes into spare time. Payment isn't much of an incentive there, sorry. This is, on the other side, also the explanation for why some features get implemented and some don't. It's a bit based on personal need and motivation (fun and experience gathered on the course) of the developers.
Oh, and I hope to speak for all of us when I say that we consider this project a bit as "ours", yes, but mainly as a community effort that is explicitly free and open for all. Though thanks for any encouragement, this adds to the fun in doing this. |

I am also very interested in the suspend support.
cgm999 wrote a suspend mod, I found it also here. Because Markismus used this build, it is also included in Markismus's 1 step hack. The question is, can this mod be used in the official release? I'm sick of unofficial mods and problems and I will be using the latest nightly build, which is surprisingly awesome ![]() |

Would you be willing to share your latest nightly builds? I am still not able to compile my own. |

Are we talking about these? http://code.google.com/p/koreader-pa...downloads/list
If so, some of them look like they don't need compiling. I could be wrong as the last time I tried just merging/replacing the folders and files involved, I didn't git it working. Luck; Ken I am using the latest nightly build "package" (one of the two downloads listed) and it seems to be working fine. #454 Last edited by Ken Maltby; 08-19-2013 at 11:40 AM. |

These, I'm successfully using one of the builds with "kobo" in the name from google code (began yesterday, but no crashes so far)
![]() I'll look into bash files during week-end then, thanks, Markismus! Last edited by rehemiau; 08-19-2013 at 11:25 AM. |
