Amazon doesn't charge until item is shipped. (So for Kindle books the charge doesn't appear until day of release).

Kobo, B&N, Carina Press, Samhain, etc. all charge at the time of the order. Which I don't necessarily mind as that way I don't forget about it. Plus I like ePub. Kindle books don't always convert as nicely as I would like.

I see that Sony has some books available for pre-order now, too. Their rare coupons should work with their pre-orders since they have a cart.

LOL it takes me about two months to earn a $5 Amazon giftcard from Swagbucks, but every little bit helps towards the bookfund! And I've found with the "free" $5 I'm more willing to pay for a Kindle title that costs closer to $10!

The more deals the better. Even if it's something you think had been mention, it's okay to repeat it. What one person might miss, they might catch in another post. At least that's my opinion.

I do prefer to pay at the time of of order I can't tell you how many times I forgot about a Amazon order! I wish they would send you reminders a week or a few days before release.

If I am paying with a debit card I can go ahead and enter it in my checkbook (with a memo notating the TBR date) so I don't forget. But if I'm paying with a gift card it can cause issues. So I prefer to just have the transaction done at the time of the pre-order.

Then I keep a list in Evernote of my pre-ordered books. Samhain is very good about sending an email reminder when pre-ordered books are available for download, but not every store is. So I like to keep my own list.

I try to be that organized but I just need forget too much even if I did write it down I would need to be reminded to look at the list!

Too bad there is actually a federal law requiring them to charge you at time of delivery, not ordering....

Can you PM me, too? I've recently been active on SB (earned enough for 2 $5 Amazon cards last week), but there's lots I don't know. People talk about getting "singles" and "triples" on the Facebook page but I have no idea what they're talking about.

Thanks for posting all the freebies, ladies. My book budget is nil these last months, because we bought a house in March. I don't know what I'd do without the slushpile to read! lol

I just read Back to the Bedroom by Janet Evanovich, which is currently still on sale for $0.79. I haven't read any of the Stephanie Plum books, but I have to say that now that I've read this one, I'm very tempted to at least read the first few. It was light and fun, with a cute hero and an uptight but adorable heroine. I'd recommend it, especially at this price, if you want to check out her style.

These early romances by Janet Evanovich are not overly similar to the Plum series. For one, they are far more focused on romance and, IIRC, a bit more smexy than poor old Stephanie - who does get plenty of lovin' (Morelli... Ranger...Morelli...Ranger...who can choose?!?! ), we just don't get to 'see' much of it The Plum series is light and funny and has some slapstick moments, but Stephanie's love life definitely comes second to solving the case (or, um, second to Stephanie accidentally solving the case with hopefully only one car explosion along the way )

You can definitely hear Evanovich's voice in these and I enjoyed them very much - Janet's character development is never very deep, but she has wholly likable and lovable characters none-the-less. In fact, Elsie Hawkins in Back to the Bedroom is a prototype for Grandma Mazur in the Plum books, so if you liked that spunky little lady, then you'll love Grandma Mazur Sometimes she's worth the read in and of herself... well, besides Ranger, of course

That's just it JE reuses all her characters just gives them different names. In her book Hot Stuff you find another hero who is just like Morelli and the heroine is alot like one of her earlier heroines from the book I can't remember which. Her Wicked series Lizzy is just another Stephanie but there's Diesel who brings in something new and Wolf I suppose is a sophisticated version of Ranger. (I don't buy it)

I am a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum series even if the latest books are ghost written. I need to read The Heist because I miss JE's real voice. I own all JE's books I can get my hands on. Her earlier stuff is okay and very likable but she hit Gold with Stephanie Plum series at least till it got to Book 12. I really hope she doesn't drop the Wicked series. It's unique and light for a paranormal. She also has the series she did with Charlotte Hughes that will never be finished.

Her older stuff is okay. They are light fun reads. I couldn't get past the first couple chapters of Hero at Large that one is a DNF for me.

Check your Overdrive library they have pretty much all of JE's stuff with the exception of her some of the Stephanie Plum books that are put out by non library lending publishers. you can get the Audio though of most of them.
