Incredible that a company like Amazon does not sell a reader with a screen designed to read PDFs !
Sony seems to be the first company ready to at last offer people the opportunity to read PDFs comfortably.
My wallet is open for those 13.3" !

I think the market for those is too small for Amazon to be interested. A 13.3" reader (or tablet) isn't very mobile and you may as well use a laptop if you're going to drag around something so bulky. Outside of research and education, does the average consumer read PDFs frequently? To an extent where it would justify the purchase of a dedicated device that would probably cost $1000 or more? Amazon seems to aim at the mass market with most of what they do, not specialized or expert markets.

Sony has always been more innovative, with a lot of what they do, and they are not afraid to lose money on the more experimental projects. In a way, they set trends that then others follow if they turn out to be effective. That frequently has downsides for the customers, like new memory card formats that cost a ton for a while , but overall it's one of the reasons why I like them as a company.

If you make friends with Apprentice Alf, you could read it happily on your Aura HD.

On screen size: I'd like to see a screen that is more a 9:16 instead of a 3:4 aspect ratio. Paper books generaly don't have a 3:4 aspect ratio for the text block, and there are probably good reasons for that.

The resolution is the real area where the race is on with these devices, making a device marginally bigger is not that a big deal since it also has the downside of making the device a bit heavier reducing one of the obvious advantages these devices have over small tablets.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if amazon will end up using this larger display in the next kindle, but I am sure that many would prefer a higher rez version of the current 6" display.

I like the 6" screen on my Kindle. For me it is the perfect compromise of a big enough screen and portability.

Rather than reducing the size of the reader, why not increase the size of one's pocket?

I've been having shirts tailored to have a pocket which will accommodate electronic devices since my Newton MessagePad 100 --- my Travelsmith shirts will hold my Sony PRS-600, no tailor necessary.

I definitely want a smaller ereader. Something the size of either a Pyrus mini or a Galaxy Player 5.

I just hope they stay interested in producing e-readers, then we have a chance of seeing them innovate in this market again.

Speaking of innovating, seems they are coming out with some kind of camera attachment for tablets and smartphones. Sounds real interesting if the price isn't ridiculous.

I've been wondering if amazon might be looking at the dx size devices again. They started selling the dx again a couple months ago, which seemed pretty odd. I'm wondering if they might be trying to determine what demand there is for a larger device? No idea, but maybe we'll hear something this year?

IMHO the kindle form factor is perfect, however it would be nice if they could fit a larger screen in it
