I am trying to follow the sigil use guide from the start, and I found that my html file wont open correctly on notepad. It opens as a lot of gibberish. I have never before come across html files that wont open in notepad. I had assumed they all did. I am on windows 7, which I am new to, so maybe someone can tell me if I would be better off [not have this problem] if I used windows vista and an older version of openoffice. Please does anyone know about openoffice-created html files that look fine for reading purposes but open on notepad as gibberish?

I do not think your save as worked... Html is a regular text file and should open as such.

BTW, if everything else fails, you could simply press CTRL+A, CTL+C in Writer and CTRL+V in Sigil to paste the text in Book View mode into the empty default document that Sigil creates. (You'll lose most formatting, though.) |
