All those flashing lights - why? I don't want a light to flash whenever I turn a page -so irritating!

And the big page-turn buttons on the side - too easy to squeeze accidentally. When the interviewer hands the device to the marketing manager, he triggers off page turns.

And when he applies the drop-test - what a pathetic tinny sound! I want to hear a good solid thump when I throw my Reader to the floor.

To let you know that you've pressed the button successfully, I think. Something somewhere mentioned a visual cue that the button presses had taken.

I'm actually liking the buttons, so far. They're big enough to be easy to hit, but they aren't the entire length of each side like the Kindle ones, so there's space to hold onto the thing that isn't button.

Good observations, fellows!

- The drop test ended in screen crash (the Interviewer had to laugh). Drop test was a bad idea! Screen stability IS still a issue

- The touch buttons are predestinated for random clicking (something that already with iLiad was disturbing).

- page turn seems slow, although pdf opening was very fast.

Has iRex lost their marbles? What were they thinking with the "Please wait" crap? Anytime you send a message to the screen processing slows down. On a normal PC screen I can programmatically read a file displaying each row on the screen and it will take five times the amount of time to process than not displaying on the screen. Now you take a screen that is slower than a PC to refresh and even a short message increases time.

Lets say for arguments sake turning a page took a number of minutes. Then I might appreciate the message. It is telling me the processor is working, not hung up and please be patient. When the delay is of little significance why, please why add a forced delay by sending a message to the screen. This is just plain stupid. Very stupid!

I missed the flashing lights, ugh! Maybe they have a user defined setting to turn it off. Just hope it doesn't turn on Lara's Theme every time there is a page turn.

Big page turn buttons - Either they are jealous of the Kindle, they want to be an OEM for Amazon or they want people to complain about the design to create buzz which may circle us back to being jealous of the Kindle.

Its only showing up, when there is a delay. In normal usage i have not seen pageflips to cause this message to show up.

Tribble, will you be able to make a little video review today? Would be great!

How is the handling of the device (especially the touch buttons)?

Is the multiple documents function working fast? (taking notes, switching to other documents)

How is battery life?

Thanks very much for some impressions!

yup. even on white pages i have seen it happen (although it almost never happens with PDFs containing text, only on unOCR'd scans)

If it looks like mostly text, but still painfully slow, then It's very likely an issue that I mentioned in this thread.

Maybe only if it hasn't finished rendering/caching the page yet? Most of the time the next page should be cached before you flip to it.

The interviewer stopped laughing at the end when they charged him for the device. Cold Blooded
