It did add a back button to the Glo, which is great. But I found the update too buggy for my taste, so I went back to 2.6.1. I like the library sliders, which 2.8.1 takes away.

The good news is I did a factory reset last night, wasn't hoping for much since it didn't help my original unit with the glo flicker and page turn issues, but in this instance, it seems to have been THE CURE! I have read about 130 pages since and NOT ONE SINGLE DOUBLE PAGE TURN! Nor any triple or quadruple turns. I'm not a fumble-fingered sort, either, I have a very light, deft touch with touchscreens and get along with them quite well, never using a stylus for anything. So I knew the problem wasn't likely to be how I was turning or swiping. I still wish the replacement reader was the IVORY of my choice and not brown, but at least it works. And after three+ months of trying to get a decent Kobo Aura, I think I'll keep it.

Compared to the previous firmware: The covers are smaller in both list view and cover view. In cover view this means 12 covers per page instead of 6. The font sizes are larger for the book title, which unfortunately means that some titles no longer fit and have to be truncated. The series information is no longer in a different shade of grey, but is capitalised instead. The menu button at the left of each book has gone, the book menu is now activated by a long press. Unfortunately the space saved is now taken up by the file type and read status, so there is actually less room for title and author information than before. I like the new cover view and the idea of replacing menu buttons with a long press action, but would prefer the space saved to be used either for more book information or more books per page, instead of just larger fonts. Although, unless some future update is said to fix the long paragraph button, or give me image zoom for epubs, or some useful feature I'd want, I can't really see any reason to turn the Wi-Fi on again.

I wonder if this might be the problem for a few more people? I tend to be pretty rigorous about keeping the screen/bezel clean of crumbs and cat hair (which can be a struggle at times).

I think it's some combination of user, firmware and possibly hardware. People that have the problem seem to always have it and in some cases across multiple devices or replacements. There really isn't a lot to a tap or swipe, so not sure how it could be user, but it seems a lot of the people with the problem, always have the problem. I'm in the "have had it before (quite a while ago), don't get it anymore" camp. It is an extremely annoying issue if you have it. There seem to be less people with the problem these days or they don't mention it anymore at least.

I was a bit tongue in cheek with the crackers. It is true that my Kobo readers reacts in strange and mysterious ways to crumbs on their faces, but my other touch screen reader doesn't. Helen

The double page turns that some people are seeing also reminds me of keyboard debouncing. When people press keys they do so for varying amounts of time, measured in split-seconds. My keypress might be ever so slightly longer or shorter than your keypress. Also the way I press a key might make it make contact with the underlying sensors several times per key press. To fix this problem engineers invented "keyboard debouncing". I assume that something similar is used for touch screens, maybe Kobo need to fine-tune their debounce algorithm a bit?

What algorithm ? Adding a simple sleeping line instead of blindly change 4 pages in less than half a second should do the trick... But more i use my Glo, and more i feel something is really wrong with kobo's devs at Kobo

I don't have this problem. Haven't had any problems with double clicks for many FW updates, though at one time it was a huge issue for everyone.

i have the kobo mini. just make it clear instead of just touching the screen on rhs to go to next page you have swipe it? and there is no way to stop this in settings as i just currently touch and it moves forward? and also in library the sliders have gone and you have to swipe or go to page number? see when using swipes how many pages will each wipe move forward in library. reason i ask is i have 9700 books in the kobo mini and that is lot of swiping. the sliders made it easy but swiping...
