Has anyone read this yet? A ton of reviews saying it's not her usual style... I've only just read my first by her (the Gamble) and just bought a bunch of her Rock Chick's... sitting on the fence on this one.
I'm a KA fan girl, so YMMV. Personally, I loved the style of her previous books. They are utterly cracktastic, with messy writing, strange grammar and sentence fragments, inarticulate alphahole heroes, and they are epic in length, often 500+ pages. I usually hate those kinds of books with a passion, especially when they have grammar issues, but somehow she manages to make it work.

Own The Wind is significantly shorter and the grammar is cleaned up a bit, although it's still her signature writing style. The essence of her writing is still there, with the bonus that the heroine in this book is Tabby, daughter of Tack, the hero of Motorcycle Man, which is many of her fans' favorite book. I really liked it, but it wasn't quite as cracktastic for me precisely because it's been "cleaned up" for mass consumption and is missing some of the elements that made her other books so full of crazy sauce. (However, Shy, the hero in this book, is a pretty typical KA hero, so it hasn't been cleaned up THAT much. )

For $0.99, it's probably a good way to try her out if you've never read any of her stuff, and if you have read any of her others and were okay with her writing style and her heroes, then I'd say you should jump on this deal.

It appears Sherrilyn Kenyon's entire Dark Hunter series is on sale at Amazon for $1.99 each.

Odd. That must be a recent change, since I bought Tangle of Need while it was still a hardcover with a good coupon, and I got really annoyed when the price dropped 2-3 months later. sigh. Have you checked if the price is lower at Allromance? ( In case it is an Kobo thing.)

I know that the greatest thing is how the book makes us paint the story in our heads, but sometimes you need another interpretation.

I just bought one ebook and 2 audibles.

Fatal Judgment by Irene Hannon I had this title on my nook, but when Blossom had it on her list, I got it through amazon so I could get the audible for 3.99.

Her Own Best Enemy by Cynthia Justlin audible 2.99

The Challenge by Susan Kearney 5.49 I paid full price for this one but was the last of my gift card. this is one I have been waiting for on my wish list. It is a great futuristic and see that amazon has the others coming soon. Hopefully I can get them all on my nook.

Ok here's my buy report for the week. I haven't downloaded the books I bought yesterday and today yet as I need to get Calibre and my libraries back on my PC.
  • Once More with Feeling by Nora Roberts [One of the few new-to-me NR's. Read it while reformatting. It was OK, but definitely not one of my faves by her.]
  • Reflections by Nora Roberts
  • Dance of Dreams by Nora Roberts
  • Trust in Me by Dee Tenorio [I liked this one.]
  • Stargazer by Colby Hodge
  • Ask Her at Christmas by Christi Barth
  • Dream On by Jaci Burton
  • Dare to Love by Jaci Burton
  • Midnight Velvet by Jaci Burton
  • The Heart of a Killer by Jaci Burton
  • Time Raiders: The Warrior's Touch by Delilah Devin
  • A Simple Twist of Fate by HelenKay Dimon
  • Time Raiders: The Greek Lover by Jocelyn Kelley
  • Immortal Heart by Julie Miller
  • Always Faithful by Julie Miller
  • Shadow of the Hawk by Julie Miller
  • No Mistletoe Required by Jeanette Murray
  • The Game of Love by Jeanette Murray
  • Romancing Wisconsin box set by Stacey Joy Netzel [I already had book 1 in my TBR pile but haven't read it yet.]
  • Making the First Move by Reese Ryan
  • A Good Time by Shannyn Schroeder
  • More Than This by Shannyn Schroeder
  • Burn for Me by Dee Tenorio
  • Love Me Tomorrow by Dee Tenorio
Proud of myself for actually reading two of the books I bought this week and not just sticking everything in my TBR pile.

I am glad my browser somehow reverted back to the old Kobo as I really dislike their new layout.

Also, my wishlist is looking very slim (just over 450 books now on it ). There are a few non-couponable books at the US store *I'm looking at you, Entangled*. Plus there are still a number of Nora Roberts Penguin Intermix old category books I'd like to buy which are now out. But for the first time since I created my "Wanted in Digital" list more than 75% have a "Not Yet Released" notation (by which I mean older books which have not yet been released digitally not new books that haven't come out yet). I need to find some new authors so keep your buy reports coming. I often check out the authors' websites and add stuff to my wishlist.

I don't mean to sound as if I am complaining, but I am exhausted. I spent hours looking and organized all of the books by price so I wouldn't use my biggest code on the least expensive book (which is one of the reasons I waited until the end of the contest this time as I have done that before. Oops!) And I don't regret using all of the 30% and less coupons last year and this year or buying agency priced books by favorite authors, but man I could have saved mucho $ if I'd waited. Oh well, such is the life of a book addict

The only bad part of waiting til the end to spree buy is that Kobo locked me out early this AM after purchasing 10 books. I was able to buy 10 more books this afternoon, but got the "unexpected error" on book 11 again. Called my bank they said it's not my card (I got the same error earlier in the week and it was my card, so I wanted to be sure). I tried again after an hour, but I guess that's not long enough of a wait time

I have two other codes I was saving until tomorrow to buy some new Carina books, so I'll see if I can purchase some more after midnight. Has this happened to anyone else?

Shopping spree! When I grow up I want to be just like you

I've had Kobo go fritzy on me after buying a lot of books but that hardly happens anymore because I normally just buy about 5 books at time now.

Regarding the Entangled books, if you go on a trip you can use the codes on them

Yes, but a trip requires gift cards and I am currently out.

ETA: Dear Author's giveaway today is 5 Brazen books of the winner's choice.

I noticed the reverted Kobo website too, strange!? I hear you on being tired, I spent tons of time yesterday going through my purchase/want list, hours to be honest so I completely understand. Although I admit I didn't have any trouble purchasing thru Kobo, maybe they knew I was spending so much in their store they didn't want to stop me.

I checked now and it is $7.99 at Allromance. I'm not in a hurry (already read the library's copy); I'll wait for either the price to drop some more or for a very good Kobo code.

Like issybird said, you can use Paypal. For my "US" account I use my regular local debit card or my Paypal account (which is tied to my local credit card) and it works fine, never had a problem. I used their gift cards before, but that was just to avoid all the small charges on my cards, which are a chore to reconcile.

My list:

Beneath Your Beautiful by Tamsyn Bester ($1.35)
Blind Obsession by Ella Frank ($2.25)
Hidden by Eve Silver ($1.80)
Love Thy Neighbour by Belle Aurora ($1.40)
Real Romance by Ginny Baird ($0.54)
Sweet As Sin by Inez Kelley ($1.92)
Tall, Tatted and Tempting by Tammy Falkner ($1.35)
The Psy-Changeling Collection by Nalini Singh ($26.04)
Escaping Reality by Lisa Renee Jones ($0.54)
plus one non-fiction book for $3.53

(After I bought Blind Obsession, it went down to $0.99 at Amazon )

10 books for $40.72

I didn't buy that many but the bulk of my wishlist right now is only available at Amazon (especially the lower-priced stuff ) so it was quite the trial checking and rechecking, and finally deciding what to buy and what to leave behind. I reserved codes for two books that will be released on Tuesday. Unfortunately, neither are at Kobo right now but I'm hoping they will turn up before the codes expire.

Of the books I listed last week, I've read two: Lick and The Winning Season. Of this new batch, I started Sweet as Sin (and of course I've already read the complete Psy-Changeling collection ... tee-hee ).
