Mysterious Samsung Daynote - destined to challenge Amazon?

Color us skeptics on this one, but Phandroid is speculating and wishfully-thinking about a new device from Samsung that could challenge Amazon's alleged dominance in the world of E Ink devices. The talk is about the Samsung Daynote. Nothing more than the trademark application to go on at the moment, but hey, it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Quote:
Samsung might be one of the only manufacturers on the planet who could manifest an e-Ink Android with a great hardware implementation. They could leverage the Daynote name through their Galaxy Note series, even incorporating it as a FEATURE while still retaining the original Galaxy Note name. And hey… the timing might be perfect. [...]

Samsung could capture a huge portion of Amazon’s eReader customers and swallow a big gulp of Amazon’s marketshare. In a world where phone and tablet tech is more iterative than revolutionary or even evolutionary, they’d offer a feature that no iPad dare include.

If they were going to do that, why would they have sold Liquavista?

It's probably a new app for the Note 3 most likely.

Their last attempt at e-ink didn't work out so well. I like Samsung and own some of their various products (TVs, Refrigerator, GS3). Maybe they don't need to rule "everything".

I still use and treasure my Keyboard Kindle 3G. Sure the navigation key is slow, but not the reading, and I am always connected.

I would like to see someone beat that "total package."

well you know what "they" say, " The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Samsung most certainly went to school on Apple during allthe years spent in bed together.

I don't use kk 3g as it is obsolete.

it is lying gathering dust.i wish i could sell it for £100.it is loaded with 2900 mobi books arranged in collections.

i bought the nook as it has a file browser,a sd card slot and a light and have rooted it to read any format.

no more stupid conversions and restrictions.

Correct me please, if I have misunderstood.

Are you saying that your kk 3g with 2900 mobi books arranged in collections" is now obsolete AND unusable (unreadable)?

If so, that is terrible! What a waste!

Anyone who thinks some wiz-bang piece of hardware will seriously impact Amazon's market position is a fool. If they build a marketing plan based on only new hardware they are doomed to failure. Amazon's market position was built by, and is maintained by, their having the best and easiest to use online ebook store.

Yes - especially if you can download the Kindle App for the device.

I have converted a number of books from different formats and languages as well to go on my eReaders. I use them for reference. Actually have them on 3 machines so at least one is available where ever I am.

no it's not about drm.

it's about the large number of formats like epub,mobi,azt,rtf,html,chm,pdf,txt,kpnuts...

and the kindle are restricted in reading particular formats.
