Does anyone have trouble with kobo's website now? My purchases can't go through paypal and they say there is a problem with my credit card. I'll probably be charged several times by kobo for the same book. Last time it happened, I had tried to buy a book 20 times. Kobo was nice enough to put the sum for 19 of them on my credit store.

I always have problems with them, as they are seen as a Canadian (non-US) purchase, which generally is either blocked by some card companies (locking up your card) or triggering a fraud alert call by others (which will let the charge go thru, but you have to reactivate the card).

Are you using some sort of code-generating app? I've seen them on dodgy pirate sites for other coupons (not Kobo). Nobody could possibly have the time to do thousands of manual contest entries. Not to save a couple bucks on a few e-books.

It does look strange indeed. 4000 codes are a bit too much. It could lead Kobo to interrupt what is really a very good practice which I would dearly like to go on as long as possible. I remember the ruckus caused by people rooting Kindles for abusing whispernet and the consequences were that Amazon reduced for everybody the amount of download to 50mb.
I concur that is it sensible not to abuse a service lest it disappears altogether.
I do appreciate people sharing codes, I've been lucky enough to be able to use a couple with more than 30% discount which is already good, and it would be nice to continue.

You still have problems? US sales aren't billed through Canada anymore, they have a US "presence" for that.

I agree. Many of the non-US users who can't officially participate in the contest seem to appreciate even the lower value coupons (which is all I seem to get).
