Glad you had a good time.

I have been having computer issues but am refining my list of books to buy at Kobo. I'm saving up my codes and plan to use them once the contest is over and just add them to Calibre in one big batch. I did buy 4 books already this week and have read one and am reading another now since I just HAD to have them

Thank you all for the welcome back wishes.
I'm making up for lost time, already bought another 3 $.99 deals this afternoon [see below]. Like libraryaddict I'm saving up my Kobo buys til the end of the contest too, so for me both this week and probably next will be over budget, and I'm OK with that! I know right? This one is about the worse I have seen out of the backlist stuff.

If one doesn't know this is a previously published author, one would never take another look. Another author I feel a bit bad for is Stella Riley. Great books, but some of the new covers for the re-releases are atrocious. I really think they are why the books are not selling.
I bought them anyway when they came out, but only because I had this author in my wishlist for out of print ebook releases.
I wish someone that knows how to make decent covers, even if they are stock would help her out.
They are such long awaited books and nobody sees them.

What are these Kobo contests & codes?
Are they offered only in USA?
Here in Australia Kobo NEVER have competitions, and if they offer codes they are only for a single ebook purchase from a very limited range of titles.
I rarely purchase from them for that reason.

Not sure about AU, but here in Canada we get the contests too. It's like a daily thing and each time you get a discount code. Here you get to it from the main Kobo page. Lots of people here share extra codes, and also post promotional codes from Kobo as well, you can find the lists in this thread. Usually time sensitive ones will be on the last pages, ones that are promotional without firm expiration dates are listed on the main page of that thread. You may want to ask in there about AU promotions as well.


ETA: For any C.M. Stunich fans, she's been putting her older books on sale over the past weeks and the last batch of them is $.99, I grabbed all 6 to finish my library for her. I've enjoyed so many of her books.

I've checked the Kobo au website, but there are just the usual plugs for overpriced (compared to USA) ebooks.
I think I've only ever seen one discount code on the website homepage here. They are occasionally emailed, but there are so many restrictions on what you can purchase that they're not worth bothering with.

The only time I buy through Kobo is when it's non-agency and then can apply a coupon code [like from the current contest or a rare promotional code]. Amazon gets the bulk of my business now. You may have better luck using a VPN but not sure how/if that works in AU.

For Kobo you don't need a VPN. Just change the country on your account. Absolutely no validation what so ever.

I don't get to update my wishlist today as I had planned. My main PC has totally crashed and will only start in safe mode. Thankfully most everything should be backed up but this is a headache I do not need right now.

I've been battling whatever the malware/virus is for a week, so I give up and will just reformat the computer. Easy to do, just a huge time suck. Wah!

Thankfully I have my laptop. It's just my main PC is where I have all of my book stuff including Calibre, etc. I should have known thing would get bad when Word quit working. I'll just be over here crying in the corner while I bang my head against the wall

Check your PMs first. If you have to sacrifice your e-library it should be an absolutely last resort.

Ah, I see, I'm not sure I knew that. I use VPN when I 'have to' for Amazon, but most of the time they're pretty good about matching CA to COM prices now.


libraryaddict, that SUCKS, I feel so bad for you. Have had a couple of PC's die/crash in the past and I know how much work it is to get things up and running again. Hang in there, hope it goes smoothly and you didn't lose too much, if anything.

Oh Gosh I wish I was there to fix it for you. Do you have an external drive? You can use a Ubuntu CD to boot from and copy your files to your External Drive so you don't lose anything.
