I've just finished How To Be Good by Nick Hornby, a bit of light entertainment. Now I'm going to start Doomsday Book for the MR bookclub. I'm not a fan of sci-fi so I'm anticipating a long, slow read. I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the book.

Ah, thank you. Didn't realise there were two separate sites (and I'm not quite sure why they felt the need...can't believe I'm the first to have this problem, especially as the main site lists ebooks as well).

There are historical reasons for separate sites, but it IS confusing. As for 1632, I highly recommend it. There are other "alternate history" books/series, but nothing that comes close to this for accuracy and research.

I am more than half way through A Clash of Kings. It is indeed quite different from the second season of A Game of Thrones. It is still a pleasure to read, however I am starting to worry that reading so many pages can my English worse. It is filled with outdated words and broken English, after all

You might still enjoy this one. Although I definitely would classify it as science fiction, it has a strong historical fiction element.

Personally, I loved this book.
