How to create black hyperlink font colour?

in my experience - when viewed with ADE / Sony , hyperlinks are always blue and underlined - no matter what you do in CSS

At the very most, your coding instructions are merely a polite request that such be done. Many reading apps will comply with such requests, provided they are coded properly, but some apps will ignore them.

Be prepared for more CSS disappointments.

There are Manufacturers that believe THEY know best and choose to :
1) Ignore (some, Basic) valid EPUB2 CSS instructions
2) Implement those instructions poorly or incorrectly (not consistent with the Common Browsers)
3) Provide no user choice of 'As delivered' or supplied overrides

Spend some time reading down in the EPUB section and you will start to see what the gotcha's of designing books for various readers.
