I always get an lrf without the TOC, I don't know why... can you help?

I'll try to come up with something that works and post a how to. It may take a day or two.

If it's still broken send me platform, firefox version details, and a sample url you see this on.

thanks.
Up to date and still seeing the bug.

A request-for-info, rather than a request-for-improvement:

where do you keep your temporary file containing the htm of what's inside the editor window?

I ask because I'd like to keep on adding to the final document even between sessions, so I could back it up, then - when opening firefox again - I could load it and transfer it to a clean editor window...

I tried searching for it with 'lsof', but I didnt find it...

Those temp files are only created when you build an ebook. I'm working on load/save for the editor for the next release but haven't gotten to it yet. I've run into an issue with add link/add image commands. Turns out the midas editor built into Mozilla has issues when run from an extension.

those .tmp (really .htm) files seem rather well-formed to me, links and images too.
Rather, there may be some unicode problems, because I found here and there some chinese characters that were not there in the original htm file from which I took the text snippets...

Not Working For Me

Hiya B'Wofe!

For some reason, I'm striking out with the latest version. When I double-click the icon while in Firefox, I get the hourglass for a few seconds, then Calibre pops open, but no new file appears in there.

Anything I can try testing or doing to help?

Hmm, double check the paths to the calibre executables in the options dialog. I'm hoping to simplify this in the next release or two.

Also, try creating an ebook the normal way and wait for calibre to pop up. Then, select the "Show Log File" menu item from either the taskbar context menu or the Tools/Bookit menu. This should show you the output from the most recent run. Paste that into a post and I'll see if anything looks wrong.

I'm in crunch mode at work right now, after this week I should have time to fix a few bugs and add a few more features to the editor.

Thanks.

Looks like web2lrf is having trouble writing the lrf file.

Does c:\temp\bookit exists?

Also, try overriding the filename by the giving a full output filename path in the advanced tab. Make sure you don't set this permanently otherwise you'll overwrite the same file each time.

Was a Path Problem

Hi Beowulf,

I see it now, I did have a path problem. Adding the necessary folder structure to create the specified temp path solved it.

Question: Should Bookit create the necessary folders if a specified path doesn't exist? Or, have a Browse button for specifying the chosen path?

I don't know about creating the path, that could be annoying if the user enters an invalid path, but I like the browse idea. I'll add it to the list.

thanks.

Just a quick FYI, I've been completely tied up with a new product release at work and haven't had any spare time to work on the plugin. And now there's a hurricane baring down on us and I may be without power for a while. During Alicia in 1983 we didn't have power for two weeks, that was fun!

So I haven't lost interest, I'm just a bit preoccupied!

Back to the 21st Century

Power and internet have been restored, I feel like a modern human again.

Missing a few shingles, trees, and a fence, but otherwise none the worse for wear.

I need a few days to resolve work crises and then I'll try to remember where I was with the plugin. I see Kovid has gotten some epub support out. When get gets web2epub released I'll add support to bookit for it.
