Have you tried to reset Kobo completely (you have to long press the light button and turn on the Kobo if I remember well) (and if I remember well this removes ALL the contents from your Kobo, books included)

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but in Canada, they have to sell as refurbished even if there was never anything wrong--if it was returned because people want another colour or just changed their mind. When new models come out, a whole lot of refurbs appear because people want the new model and are still within the exchange period for the older devices.

Does this mean this firmware is no good for the mini? Would love to have the italics/bold bug fixed on that too....
