Hello all, I am a new poster here but have been reading for a while.

I am not sure if this has already been discussed but as I have now had this error twice I thought I would make a post about it. I have now had a corrupt book be downloaded twice, both times when using a promo code or purchasing a sale item. The book sends my kobo touch haywire so that it requires resetting and when it has recovered the book I was reading at the time goes into a loop where it is stuck on one chapter and then for all the other books the stats will not move beyond 0 or 1% read despite being read much more.

The support team took me through a process designed to identify the problem book, but none of them appeared to have any problems according to their specification.
The only way I have found to fix this is for kobo to completely delete all of the items from my library and add them back in again, they actually asked me to do it and I refused, and I am glad that I did because they ended up unable to move them back and manually had to add them in using my purchase history record.

Has anyone else had this occur to them? Is there an easier way to get around it for next time, I am not disillusioned enough to assume there won't be one!

I have had the occasional bad download of a book. The usual fix is to force a download. I do this by deleting it on the device and then going to the site. In the "My Library", the book will be in the trash. Restoring it from the trash should put it in the "I'm Reading" list. The next sync should download it correctly.

The problem with the reading status not changing sounds like a corrupt database. This was probably caused by the crash. The database on the device stores all the details of the books including the reading status. If it is damaged in some way, you will see strange things like that. Fixing this usually means logging out of the device and restarting. This replaces the damaged database with a new one and takes you through the setup again. It will then need to download the books from Kobo again.

I was saw the same behaviour. After a bunch of email I was able to keep in touch with second level support of Kobo.
Delete all the books from your online library (they'll be put in the thrash area). Reset th Kobo and connect it again. Update everything and then restore all your books frmo the trash to the library.
And then update the Kobo again.

Should work.

Logging out of the reader and then restarting is certainly what fixes the 0/1% read problem. I would try this first.
