There's a good Kindle Daily Deals for historical fans today.

Mine til Midnight (Hathaways #1) by Lisa Kleypas $2.99

Quote:
When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan.

Wealthy beyond most men’s dreams, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter….

I notice that the one I bought a few years ago has a different ASIN. Just a warning to anyone who uses Amazon's 'you already bought this' warnings to any extent. I really hate when publishers publish a "new" edition of an old book instead of updating the current one. Makes me wonder if this new edition fixes the errors that were in the older one (which took me 2 hours to fix in 2009), and if so why they didn't provide those updates to earlier purchasers.

I think I am going to pick up the new Karen Robard backlists I posted about. I haven't bought a book in a very long time.

Edit: I just bought 5 books and it felt GREAT!
so happy to hear he's on the mend, and you too are feeling GREAT!

I highly, highly recommend this book. It's not your usual fare, but so incredibly well done IMO. I just finished the follow-up [Dirty Red] in anticipation of the 3rd [The Thief] to be released this month. It's crazy good and on sale for $1.99!
The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
blurb: Olivia Kaspen is a sharp tongued manipulator used to always getting what she wants. With just one exception-Caleb Drake, the one she foolishly let slip away. After a chance encounter brings Caleb back into her life, Olivia finds herself wanting a second chance with her first love, and asking herself how far she is willing to go to get him back. Her only problem is a red head named Leah, Caleb's new love. Olivia must fight for what was once hers, and in the process discover that sometimes love falls short of redemption.

Couldn't resist this one, because admittedly I'm doing that 'well I'm over budget already so why not' thing.
$.99 Be All by Marie Wathen
blurb: Sent away every summer after her father is taken hostage while deployed in Afghanistan, Breesan Maxwell is allowed to spend her first summer in thirteen years at home on Willow Island. Invited to a welcome home party for Morgan Walker, playboy and future heir to Walker Corporation, Breesan’s self made world of exile begins to fall away.

An introduction to Morgan only initiates the downfall of her self-contained world. His brother, undercover Drug Task Force Enforcer, Marcus Walker’s return adds to the chaos by uncovering family secrets, lies and evil plans to destroy her that will make protecting her heart and those around her extra difficult.

Family responsibilities, deceits and the criminal behavior twist these three lives together threatening their meager existences. One brother could offer her a love that will be all worth the downfall.

Free from Amazon:

Sea Raven US DE by Patricia McAllister (publ. orig. Splendor, 1996).

Quote:
THE RAVEN AND THE HAWK

As proud and stubborn as the clan she hails from, as wild and unpredictable as the waters she sails, Bryony O’Neill is any man’s equal on the high seas. Sworn to defend her family’s land against Tudor tyranny, she bravely confronts the English enemy, Captain Slade Tanner.

“Sea Raven” sweeps readers from the high seas to Elizabethan England, from the misty shores of Ireland to the dazzling Tudor court. Bryony and Slade are caught up in a game of intrigue and treachery, bound by a passion that breaks every law of the land.

Not couponable with Kobo in Australia, in fact nothing I've tried to buy with the current code will discount.
Unfortunately the books they will allow me to discount don't interest me.
I rarely purchase ebooks with any Kobo discount code, in the main because of the refusal of the Agency publishers to allow discounts on the books I would like to buy.

Great deal if you're collecting backlist titles. Almost all of them were previously published by Harlequin, Topaz and Avon in the 90s.

The Haunting of Maddy Clare? It sounds intriguing. There is a Audible version but I wonder if it's too much of a thriller.

I read the blurb; it looks good but scary I'm a wussy so I tend to stay away from stories with unfriendly-sounding ghosts.

Me too. I don't need nightmares. I thought for sure Firelight would have won.
