Then I don't know what your Mac is doing. Maybe it's thinking different

![]() Sorry, can't help you any further with that then. I guess you'll have to wait for a Mac user, or ask in an apple forum. BTW, I personally don't think that the file system is to blame anyway - Kindles are known to just act weird at times. |

Thanks a lot anyway! I really appreciate you spending time on this.

For me it's just strange that two Kindle 3s and one PW are all behaving like this. Unless I got some kind of Windows virus which doesn't affect Mac but affected all Kindles which are being handled by me all the time. I thought it had to do with Calibre because it started when I was sending books from Calibre to Kindles. But now all three of them act strange even without Calibre. Thanks a lot ixtab! |

Umm... wait. Did you actually run that umount command? In your quote, it is commented out (that # sign is a comment to the terminal, so it ignores everything that follows).

So did you run umount /dev/disk1s1 (or possibly sudo umount /dev/disk1s1) before the fsck_msdos command? You can verify what is mounted using the mount command. Try it before and after the umount one... |

It means that there were no errors on the disk (Otherwise it would have told you so). Whether that is good or bad news is up to you to decide

	  - but it does rule out a broken file system as the culprit. My guess is still the Kindle firmware itself. It is known to choke on some books, for no apparent reason. Unfortunately there is no known fix either

At least I can now relax and not worry that there is something wrong with the files or file system, whatever that is ![]() You are probably right, it's probaly just Kindle itself and I'll just keep converting mobi to mobi before transferring books. Thanks a lot!!! |

![]() ... if the mobi->mobi conversion does the trick, then yes, it's probably easiest to just stick with it.
