One more day... just one more day... I will be strong... I will be strong....I will be strong...

I can put up with Twinings 'English Breakfast' tea for one more day... I will be strong... I will be strong....

Boxes are promised for tomorrow afternoon. Just about $200 in fraudulent import duties (they are charging me for importing a guitar... I didn't ship a guitar... They are charging me for shipping a TV... we never even owned a TV.... But $200 is a LOT cheaper than they charged us the last time. That was over a thou in Import Duties. This time, with a retirement visa, we aren't supposed to have to pay ANY import taxes, but this is Thailand. There is no way to know if this money is actually being charged by the Government or by the shipping company wanting to make some extra money.
Oh well, just so long as I get my tea...

Anniversary Breakfast Blend to start the day. Finished stuffing the sausages and hung them in the refrigerator. Now, kicking back with a freshb mug of Peet's Lion Mountain Keemun and a good book.

Too bad about having to pay the extra money Stitchawl. I guess, if you protest there is the possibility that the delivery will be held up, boxes may go missing, or the "import duties" could rise.

I am crossing my fingers that you will have your tea (and other things) soon.

Sumatra coffee in my cup and a biscotti on my plate, as I start a list of what needs to be done to catch up on everything at home. My garden is surviving and I have some cucumbers, strawberries, and cherry tomatoes almost ready to be picked.

In S.E. Asia one ALWAYS pays... or suffers the consequences. I'm happy that I only have to pay this much. But....

Luck was with me as I began opening boxes. I found the smaller stash of teas that didn't fit in the big box. A little bit of all the good ones!! More than enough to tide me over as we work our way through 47 other boxes, until I find the main supply.

All is well with the world

(well it's not particularly so for me, as my back spasmed yesterday - too much time reseeding the lawn, probably, so now I am hobbling about the house and fighting the urge to take powerful painkillers...).

I think I have a mildly sick little boy. He is more interested in snuggling then playing and has a very runny nose.

It's all that healthy food you're giving him! Get him some hot dogs, pizza, Twinkies, beer, etc., etc. He'll harden up in no time!

Even though it's after nine pm, I'm treating myself to my forth large mug of unbranded Keemun tea since 3pm! No worries about sleeping... I'll be up peeing all night anyway!

Good morning everyone!! What a way to start a day...DECISIONS! Should I drink unbranded keemun? How about East India Company's "English Breakfast" tea? Or perhaps Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea? I should always have this problem!

To make matters even more difficult, getting out of bed was a trying experience. For years I've been sleeping on the floor with just a thin Japanese futon under me. Now in Thailand, we have a typical Thai bed which is just a wee bit softer than the floor... But... we put a Swedish Tempur Memory foam mattress topper on top... GOD!!! It was like sleeping in a cotton hammock but without being curved. I have NEVER been so comfortable on a bed before!

But I'm tough. I can take it.

It's Sunday morn, and the Food Lady is taking her rest. Last night we tried dinner at the little mom&pop restaurant off the lobby of our building and was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I had a green curry with chicken and roti on the side that was delicious as was my wife's chicken with cashews. We both drank Mango Lassie. A little expensive, the check came to almost $3 for the two of us, but it was worth it. We're going to go down there from breakfast this morning. The "American Breakfast Set" with sausage, ham, eggs, toast, and tea or coffee costs a buck. I bought some food last night at the supermarket in case we changed our minds, but it looks as if we will go down for breakfast... if my lazy wife ever gets out of bed! Maybe the Tempur mattress is TOO comfortable?
