It's one week since I bought a book and, except for that darn Lick (), I haven't been too tempted by anything. The wishlist has been repopulated () but most of it is low-tier stuff I can hold off on.

And speaking of Lick, I checked today and noticed it went down to $3.99 at Kobo. Now, if I could just get my hands on a good coupon ...

The Ice Princess by Elizabeth Hoyt
Genre: Georgian Romance
Series: The Princes Trilogy 04
Publisher: Forever Yours (August 15, 2010)

Quote:

SEVEN NIGHTS OF SIN
As the madam of Aphrodite's Grotto, the most infamous brothel in London, Coral Smythe knows everything possible about men's needs and desires. Yet she's never experienced the love of a single man-not even that of Captain Isaac Wargate whose hawk-like eyes stare at her with both condemnation...and lust.

SEVEN NIGHTS OF ECSTASY
Captain Wargate heartily disapproves of the sensuous madam who always wears a golden mask. She lures his officers from both his ship and their duty. But when Coral herself is offered up as the prize in a game of chance, Wargate impulsively enters...and wins.

SEVEN NIGHTS OF LOVE
Now the puritanical navy captain has just seven nights to learn everything he can about the mysterious madam and what she knows of a man's desires. But when Coral is threatened by the new owner of Aphrodite's Grotto, will Wargate take a chance on the woman beneath the mask...and on love?

Wow, you're doing great! I take it you've used the 50% one that came up a couple [3?more?] weeks ago? I'm sure you have, we book hoarders people usually use them right away!

Most of my purchases lately are wishlist so I'm ok with that. So far this week 6-wishlist and 2-not-wishlist, all $1 buys. My biggest temptation is still darn Tangled and I'm thinking if I'm even close to budget this week I'm just going to buy it already. I know my budget may be shredded next week or so because there's a few new releases coming that I want and may not wait for either! [ie J. Lynn's Frigid!]

Not buying a book this week feels weird! No Money and hubby's got outpatient surgery in a few days. So I am tensed. I don't drive and he can't drive afterward so that mean's taking a taxi which is a 45 minute drive to the clinic and 45 minutes drive back. I asked the nurse can you go ahead and give a prescription for the pain so it can be filled before surgery because we wont have a way to get it and they said snobbishly. No we don't do that. My sister does this many times because she is the sole driver. So that means waiting at Walgreens for who knows how long while the meter is running. I am stressed!

On a good note I got a $5 Amazon gift card coming to me from Swagbucks so get a couple of books with that. I plan to take my K3 to the clinic (It has 3G) but not sure how much reading I will get done.

Sending wishes that your husband's surgery goes well. I would try talking to the doctor or office manager again and explain the situation re: lack of transportation. There's no reason they can't get you the Rx early.

Yeesh! Do you have an idea already how much that will cost? I have to wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper to rent a limo or towncar for a couple of hours instead!

Thank you!

I have tried talking to them they don't seem to get that we don't live in the same town as them. This is not the same surgery group I use who are awesome. I will try again tomorrow. I might be able to get through to someone new this time.

According to the cab company I called $30 both way. So I am thinking $60 will probably go up. I expecting it be more around $100. We have two Taxi services in the region both small companies. The other one wanted way more than that. My only concern is how reliable and how much waiting is going to be done. I don't know of any town car service in the area.

He's having a laparoscopic hernia repair. I'm no sure how long that will take either but hoping they don't have to convert to open surgery but I have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Blossom, I'm hoping everything goes well with your hubby's surgery and you get someone willing to help out with the prescription. This won't be a good time for you to be stressed

Taxi fare can certainly add up. This reminds of a conference my coworker and I went to last year. We took an airport taxi to our hotel and the driver overcharged us (a lot), and he wanted a tip at the back of it. I offered him $1 (that was a manifestation of my "you've got to be kidding me"). He got upset and actually asked for a bigger tip! I told him I wasn't giving him a cent more. He took his fare and left. He didn't take the dollar, though

When we told front desk about it, they were appalled - taxi fare between the hotel and the airport was half what he charged us. We were furious

On another note, the tipping thing still gets to me whenever I travel to the US. I always feel put upon to tip, whereas in my country, tipping is voluntary and we mostly only tip really good/exceptional service. I normally tip the supermarket porters who take our groceries to the vehicle but I only do that because they're usually young kids with after-school or summer jobs. In almost all our hotels, guests aren't supposed to tip the staff, and the staff either aren't supposed to accept tips or it's supposed to go in some sort of tip fund and shared equally. Employees can lose their jobs if they're found accepting tips.

Blossom, prayers and good wishes for you and hubby. I think you're idea of trying to call again and hopefully getting to talk to someone with some empathy is good, wishing you luck with that too. Good luck on everything and keep us posted. *hugs*

Can someone hijack your twitter? I have a twitter account where I'm following 6 persons. I have never tweeted, and I have, obviously, no followers. Tonight I was checking my Twitter feed via Flipboard and I noticed my account had its first tweet: "Wow! After the first few days I am already noticing fast results" followed by a link for some weight loss product. I don't know how that got there! I don't even know how to tweet, truth be told. I'll change my password but I'm wondering how this happened

Thanks guys! I'm stressed because he is stressed. I absorb other peoples emotions like a sponge. That is why I am such a loner I think.

Loosh your Twitter account can get hacked. I think I read somewhere they dont even need to know your password. Revoke any apps that show up. That's usually how it happens. Facebook has similar issues.
My mother and sister has it happen to them too often.

The spam bot probably got your twitter handle from one of the 6 people you follow it's not a big deal as long as the spam tweet was along the lines of @Loosheesh Wow! After the first few days I am already noticing fast results if however the tweet was actually tweeted from you then that means you've been hacked which is possible but unlikely given your lack of activity. Does it still show you as having made 0 tweets? if so it was just a mention and you're all ok

If they won't give you the actual Rx ahead of time they should at least be willing to call it in to your pharmacy while he's in surgery/recovery so it can be waiting for you to just stop in on the way home and pick it up. So make sure you take your pharmacy phone and fax number in with you if they won't help when you call tomorrow.
