My Cybook is always turned off, and I just connect it to my PC's USB Port. |

Your symptoms are very strange. It is hard to find any theoretical explanation for it... |

I never had my Cybook crash after I updated to 796. I always charge it by turning it off, then connecting through usb to Mac, and after charging led is off, disconnect and turn it on.

So I'm afraid the symptoms are only reproducible on your Cybook. |

![]() I charge it always turned on and usually connected to usb port. That time it almost died it was charged via wall charger in the hotel room... I'll try to reproduce it too. Right now I'm charging it and we'll see what happens. Btw, I have 64 one. DrS |

I've had a couple of hangs on the first screen, but I don't think they are related to charging. Strangely, though, they seem to have gone away in the last week or so.

I think I noticed another new thing in the firmware. It is now possible to get out of a lookup with multiple hits without using the button on the side. Use the menu and select back. Press left to get out of the multiple hit menu. Use the menu to select back and you are back at the book.

I wonder if this behavior have always been there? |

Isn't using the side button a lot easier? Just press it once to get from a dictionary definition back to the multiple-matches list, and press it again to get back to the book.

I find the benefit of the button is that it's usable by "touch" - far quicker than selecting items from menus. |

Not for me. I never have my hand near the side buttons and I always forget which button is the back button since I use it so seldom.

Because I make extensive use of dictionary lookup, I do remember which one it is (the next to the bottom one), and so find it very convenient.

It is what you are used to. I also frequently use the dictionary. But I find it more convienient to push the center button twice than open the cover wider, tilt the reader and push the side button.

I generally read with the cover folded back on itself, which means that the buttons are conveniently accessible. You're right, though, it's what's you're used to.

Pushing the side button doesn't always get my cybook back to the book. This is one reason I've been so frustrated with lookup mode. I often used to go round and round trying to get back to the book (pressing the side button, pressing back, pressing the left button, etc.) but I couldn't ever figure out a consistent pattern. I haven't read much since I loaded the new firmware -- I hope this problem has been resolved.
