That's how I took it and the majority of readers who read it. Many saying mean things about a woman they don't know. I expect Drama from these indies authors but from such a big name it's just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We kow JE does not have anything to do with Facebook or the Plum series it's all Alex. She does not come off as a nice enough person to do PR for her mother's name.

Calibre has a number for every entry on the left side. I go to random.org put how many books there are and let it choose for me.
Calibre does have a random book feature though under the books icon. I find it works better if you select the first book at the top before hitting it.

It's good to see the slush pile back to normal. I didn't find anything today but it's working again.

Thanks everyone for suggestions, I'll try that next time. The problem is there's like 50 I want to read now, all of them!

Been waiting for this one to drop, it's also at Kobo both $.99ish. This is written under penname Karen Erickson who is Monica Murphy [who I love] so here's another off my wishlist!

Anyone know how long Google's Beachy Romance for $2.99 sale is supposed to last?

I've been trying to get Amazon to price match Google's price on The Reef by Nora Roberts. I may just get it from Google, but would prefer to hold out for Amazon for the potential cheap audiobook companion version from Audible. They've price matched many others in the sale, but seem to be stubborn about this one.

It's nice for folks who are raised this way and it holds true.

But that really doesn't hold true for everyone.

My dad's wife is just that...she's not been and never has been my "mother". Same for my mom's late husband. Might have been different if I'd ever lived with either of them, but to me it's just not the same.

And when my folks divorced, my dad's big-close-spend-every-holiday-together dropped up like hot potatoes.

So "family" to me has come to mean other things - it's the people in my life that really did stick by me no matter what. Has nothing to do with blood or legal papers.

I can understand there being all kinds of reasons for not wanting to claim a relationship. What I don't understand is why she'd choose to lie about something that's easy to disprove. It just makes her look catty. She could have said something polite without having to gush over it.

My dad has never been there for me so I understand. In fact when he left mom when I was 16 we all celebrated. The abuse had gotten really bad so we were happy he moved out. I didn't have a happy childhood. I love My mom but she's never been sane. The term overprotective is mild here. I wasn't allowed out of her sight and she sabotaged any relationship I tried to have outside of family. I left home at 21 and moved in with my boyfriend now husband who I met online which was the one place she did not follow me.

It has taken me years to work through the abuse and I talk to my mom still every few days and on Facebook but there's no way I could ever go back there. Dad now keeps in touch a few times a year but I know neither have ever changed.

Still they are the only parents I've got so I try my best to keep in contact and we get along fine as long as they stay where they are. lol

Now My mother in law I've had to learn to love. She can be so mean and cruel but has began to mellow a bit after all these years still I never let my guard down not with that sharp tongue of hers.

To be clear (and I should have been earlier), I actually do love my dad's wife (now, had to forgive her for being the "other woman"), and did (with difficulty, due to his alcoholism) my mother's husband. I just never considered them my step-parents in any way.

I have friends that I've kept since high school. I live a couple hours away from them all, so sometimes I'm jealous at the time they still get to spend together, but they are my "true extended family". My grandparents are all gone. But my mom and dad's sisters and brothers and all their kids...people I have known in my life. Not really "family".

Quote:
A secluded island off the central coast of Maine is home to a pair of handsome brothers, as different as day and night, and where they are destined to clash with the two independent woman they would make their brides. It's a feisty romance with Highland spirit and all the wicked humor you've come to expect from Jill Barnett (Bewitching.)

That's awesome, I'll bookmark it for next time, thank you!

Three $.99 deals today that were all on my wishlist, all rated well at Goodreads etc.

Catching Liam by Sophia Bleu

Kiss This by Hadley Quinn

Possess Me Slowly [book 2 of Shattered Series] by Joya Ryan

All 3 available at Kobo too, BUT, right now only Catching Liam is price-matched.

For those that were looking for New Release info, I forgot that Dear Author maintains a page for upcoming and recent releases http://releases.dearauthor.com/. There's a page of instructions on how to filter your searches. It's rather odd, but easy to use once you get the hang of it.
