I don´t know the problem with the bebook page, but all I can see is a grey area. There are some links on the left (faq, news, eink...) and to the right... nothing!

This happens with different browsers...

I tried this mobi software and cannot see any way to use dictionary lookup. No such entry in the menu. I suppose they mean - you can open mobipocket dictionaries and navigate throw them using hyperlinks.

I don't think I can get it to work. I have loaded it onto my bebook and it appears in the menu as 'mobifinal' 8MB and when press the button to open it, it goes to 'mobipocket_update' 37MB and when I press the button to open this, the bebook flashes 'not enough memory'.

Have I gone wrong? I would dearly love to buy some contemporary models but I'm not sure if I have done something wrong or whether it is because I am a mac user. Any (more) help would be appreciated...

It sounds like you are trying to run the Mobipocket software for Windows PC on your bebook. You just need to put the update on the BeBook and follow the directions to install it. I think you hold down Vol+ while you turn it on.

Don't you have a Mac? If so, the second file is useless to you.

Hi,

I have the 37MB update on the bebook - when I try to open it, it just says 'not enough memory'. Any clues? Oh, and I do have a mac and obviously cannot get the software to work on the mac. I was hoping that I could download mobipocket files for transfer onto the bebook - knowing that I cannot read them on the mac...

Did you follow these directions?

- Unpack the mobipocket_update.rar file using WinZip or WinRar.
- Copy the just unpacked file V3update.bin into the root of an SD card. Cardsize should be larger than 128MB, but no greater than 1GB.
- Insert the SD card in the BeBook eReader.
- Press and hold the V+ (volume up button) and turn on the BeBook eReader.
- When the update interface appears, press the "OK" Button to start and wait until it's finished.
- Restart the BeBook.
- Done!

You can download and transfer mobi pocket ebooks to your BeBook from your Mac using finder. You should be able to but Mobipocket ebooks from fictionwise.com. Before you download your purchased ebooks you need to go your profile on fictionwise and enter the PID of your BeBook. Once you follow the above directions there should be a way to view the PID in the about section of the Mobireader software on the BeBook.

Sorry, I don't have a BeBook so I can't tell you exactally how to get the PID. Perhaps a fellow BeBook owner will jump in here and enlighten us.

Getting PID is quite easy. When you're in root just press Enter and choose Settings (press 6). When you enter Settings menu just choose About (press 4). MobiPocket PID is the last entry.

First impressions

First of all - I love that I can buy mobipocket books, and even DRM'd ones, now, and I think the appearance of the books I've tried so far is quite good. But still, I've registered a few "missing links" in the functionality when reading them:

What does it mean that it looks like "staircase"? I'm pretty happy with the "BeBook font" option, but I miss the opportunity to choose line spacing. So far it looks like it's 1,5 or double line space, and that doesn't cut it for me - to much air. Anybody knows if it's possible to change it?

I'm also missing the bookmark functionality. This must be a "slip" - will be included in later updates maybe?

I've got direct access to TOC, though, but in the book I'm reading now it refers only to the TOC and "copyright" pages in the book itself. It's not a list for jumping directly to each chapter - this has been (and still are) possible when reading FB2-books with your excellent firmware, torbich (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...t=26739&page=2).

Another strange thing: I found it's possible to "follow link" via the menu button. This is great for reading footnotes, but I can't see any easy way to jump back to the original page in the book. When bookmarking isn't possible either, I don't really bother to go to the notes at all.

Could someone describe how Mobi dictionary lookup works on the BeBook, please?

I mean - if you look at diagonal lines of letters, they looks not nice and smooth, but "notched" - in FB2 its way better. And I don't know how to change neither font not spacing.

Yes, I wish the same for Mobi.

It is possible, also via menu - use "Navigate back", if I remember its name correctly (item number 9), you'll jump back.

It don't work at all (at least I cannot find any way to lookup a word or to use a dictionary).
