That is interesting. But I also don't keep track of how much I spend on books individually.

I do tend to read my autobuy authors sooner rather than later, at least their new releases. That's the only way I was able to justify to myself paying agency pricing for their books. Plus they all still are autobuy authors for a reason. The few historical authors I autobuy are the only usual exception.

I am also trying to work in more of the Harlequin Treasury titles I just HAD to own (even if the great bulk of them were mostly 5¢ or 49¢). In addition to my New TBR pile, I have an entire 3 column page of rereads I want to get to.

I've been doing the various reading challenges at AAR for the past few years (started in 2010) and I find that helps clear out some of the titles which have sat in my TBR pile for a long time. I think the titles which have now been in my TBR pile the longest are probably SB's Ricochet (which as I said isn't physically IN the pile ) and Nora Roberts' Cirlce Trilogy which I've owned since its initial release. I have books which were released earlier, but they are newer to me than those 4.

However, I never rated my books until I got Calibre so it's hard for me to remember since I read the great bulk of her books pre-1991 and the others as they were released. I liked a lot of her Loveswept titles and the later Silhouette Intimate Moments written as Erin St Claire.

My tastes have also changed somewhat since then. I have less tolerance for doormat heroines than I did when I was younger. Not that SB's early heroines are all doormats, but she wrote a few.

Now that didn't bother me because I knew it was going to happen by the name of the next book and I liked the heroine in the second book. I read all 3 books right after each other. I don't have a problem when a author kills off another character as long it's not the h/h or a key character.

I don't really have a problem with heroines that are weak. Now a weak hero I can't stand. I do love the old school romances though.

Happy 4th of July to all. My favorite holiday because I love watching the fireworks.

I listened to "The Turncoat" by Donna Thorland and all I can say is that I loved it. It was rich in historical detail, it had a great heroine and hero and the story was wonderful and suspenseful. I wanted to buy the book and tried to use one of the coupons that Apesmom so generously offers us but it wasn't valid so I went to a book completely the opposite in genre "Lick" as an impulse buy. So thank you Apesmom.

Thanks to this thread, instead of reading any one of the hundreds of books I have not read yet, I'm re-reading the Guild Hunter series!

Whoa! I was holding off on buying The Wicked by Thea Harrison in hopes that it would be eligible for the July coupon (and that they would mail the coupon code this week while it is on 30% off release week discount). This is even better! Plus, I'm sure I'll find some others.... There goes this week's book budget.

So I was checking out Samhain and I come across a book, and thought, "that looks familiar"...

Look at the cover of Real by Katy Evans: http://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/17617277-real

Look at the cover of Blood Mate by Mina Carter: http://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/17786832-blood-mate

I'm totally avoiding Real because of all I've heard about it, and when I saw the cover of Mina's book my first instinct was "AVOID!" because it's a photo from the same shoot, just a different angle with some tattoos added. I know stock licensing is probably the only way these authors can afford decent covers, but when readers get that feeling of familiarity, it can backfire in a hurry.

So far (I'm 80% through the second book), not as much as Psy-Changelings *but* it took me 3 or 4 books before I was really engrossed in that world. Guild Hunters is a completely different world, one that isn't as fleshed out as Psy-Changelings. Once I complete all the books I'll post more impressions.

I didn't enjoy Real, but of course opinions vary. The duplicate [or close to] covers drives me nuts, it's a huge pet peeve of mine!

I just got finished with my Samhain order - 7 books, only 3 of which were on my wishlist (obviously I have an impulse control problem when it comes to books ).

Still, 7 books for $17 is not bad, especially since they are all ones that I'm very interested in as opposed to the ones that I buy just because I can't resist the $0.99 price point.

Happy 4th to those celebrating!

I've been inspired to go through Calibre and add in things like price paid, etc. OMG I can NOT believe how much I paid for books before discovering this thread! Now to go read them all...

And a sale - all of Kristen Proby's With Me in Seattle series are on sale for $1.99 today (down from $3.99)! Yay, have been waiting to pick up the last two.
