For sure. I picked one up ($149) for a gift and ran it through its paces. Even though it has a card slot, you can't transfer apps to a card. You have less than 5GB to work with and I kept getting low storage warnings after loading up a bunch of apps. Epic fail!

edit: my reference is to the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 running Jelly Bean 4.1.1

Wow. Honestly, that makes it sound like getting a Nook HD and flashing CM to it is a better bet (or keeping stock - B&N stock is actually a decent book-focused OS).

Alternatives to Samsung include the Hisense Sero Pro 7, which has a front and back camera, a 1280x800 ips screen, a 1.3 ghz quadcore tegra 3 processor, a microsd card slot, and sells for $149.

Samsung seems to be doing an apple with the Tab line, barely adding any upgrades (the Tab3 7" simply gets a 0.2GHz speed bump), and keeping prices higher than the competition. Hopefully they get terrible sales and wake up.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and like it. I got it off Groupon for $150 refurbished about 2 months ago. I don't use my old Kindle Fire 1 anymore and my Kobo Vox is very slow compared to it but I just paid $60 for it.

Heck, I'd be better off getting a Nook HD+. Those specs are bad for a newer tab. Those are last year specs and even then some older tablets still beat it.

People are too obsessed with supposed SOC speeds and not the actual capability, the Tab 3 is a big upgrade to the Tab 2 in benchmarks it scores about double.
