Tonight I learned the hard way that Kobo sells some eBooks with no download options. Ugh. Of course I used my sole 75% coupon on said book that I can't even read. Nuts! If it weren't for their mega coupons I'd stop giving them my business.

But I'm still having a better day that the author who plagiarized... wow, that's all over FB! Very very sad. I'd had that book on my want list too.

Ouchie! That sucks, and their CS is so terrible at the back of it. I just bought 4 books there a little while ago and at first I was having trouble downloading them but the site eventually sorted itself out, thank goodness.

As to that other issue, no words ...

I have a 65% coupon that I got from a very generous someone from the Kobo thread and I'm having this crazy urge to buy the Psy-Changeling 10-book bundle with it. It's $74.39; with the coupon it'll be $26.04. Big drop but still very pricey for me with the currency exchange. I was so hoping to score a 75% but no luck.

Just saw you own a Glo so you should be able to read it on there, if not you can use the Kobo app on your tablet to read it.

Wow I had no idea that kobo sell books that you can't download. I'm going to have to be more careful when clicking purchase from now on, I assume they do mark them so one can tell ?

Not really. Here's the one I bought last year. No download.

You have to scroll down and check for Download options: Adobe DRM EPUB or similar. Not very convenient if you don't know what you are looking for.

Actually you can tell with that one. If you look under eBook Information: (right side part way down) it doesn't indicate any download options.

If there is a download option, it will say something like Download options: Adobe DRM EPUB below the imprint and ISBN. Example

I do agree that isn't definitely not obvious if you don't know to look out for it.

Oops, I type too slow and I missed your addition.

My recent Kobo CS experience was that I accidentally bought the PDF version of an ebook when I meant to buy the epub version (the stupid final checkout page doesn't list the format, just the page before it) with a 55% coupon during the last contest, and I contacted CS to see what I could do to switch formats (the prices were different). They said that they would refund my purchase with a store credit (fair enough), and give me a new coupon. They forgot to give me the coupon, and when I sent a follow-up email to CS, they gave me at 90% off coupon!

Sometimes you get a good support. I have a few times. Sometimes you wait months for a issue to be resolve. It's a roll of the dice.

In the search results, it's the absence of:

That is the "tip-off". And yes, I have a couple of them in my library (and one that was Kobo Vox only, which I bought deliberately (at a very, very low price, thankfully) and now cannot read, as I sold off my Vox readers while someone still wanted one.

It's really not obvious if you don't know to look for download options. Can't believe they also offer ones specific to certain eReaders!

Of course the account I used to buy is not the one attached to my Kobo. And wouldn't you know the book is not appearing in the APP I downloaded either... so waiting to hear from CS. (And one more reason I love the Amazon return policy!)

I had NO idea. I agree with whoever said that if it weren't for the great codes, I wouldn't even bother Kobo.

3 good deals on books I had on my wishlist, all rated over 4 on Goodreads and all $.99
Diamond Girl [G-Man Series book1] by Andrea Smith
blurb:
The fall of 2011 finds thirty-five year old Samantha Dennison sending her only child off to college and generally feeling F-R-U-M-P-Y. Her loveless marriage to 'the mannequin' has become intolerable; her daughter and best friend have both advised 'Sammie' to get a life of her own. Her husband has his own agenda which does not include her.

Sammie finally heeds their advice and starts with a Kickboxing/Pilates class; ultimately, learning to pole dance. From there, she is well on her way to finally carving out a secret life and identity all of her own. The thrill of the dance and sexuality she discovers within herself is a potent mixture. She gets a part-time job as a dancer in an Indianapolis Gentleman's Club called Jewels. She becomes the dancer known as 'Diamond' and very quickly catches the attention of a 'bad-boy' biker named 'Slate.'

Slate is the ultimate 'alpha' male; however there is a problem: he simply wants it to be about exclusive sex; Sammie wants and needs more from Slate. Sammie is certain that she has embarked on a dangerous, cougar-type relationship with the twenty-something biker and 'prospect' member of the notorious Outlaw Motorcycle Club. She soon finds out that she is totally out of her league with Slate and the dangerous people he associates with in Indianapolis during the summer of 2012. Something big is brewing in Indy; it ain't about race cars either.

'Diamond Girl' will keep the reader on the edge of their seat from beginning to end; this book has it all: passion, erotica, romance, danger and possibly more . . . much more.

Book 2 is also on sale Love Plus One

Last deal is Nearly Broken by Devon Ashley
blurb: We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?

Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing.

Claire.

Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan's not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it's a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can't bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan's ever found.

New Adult Romantic Suspense / Dark Realistic Fiction

Recommended for 17+ for MATURE and DISTURBING SITUATIONS, LANGUAGE and SEXUAL CONTENT.
