It's a useful plugin for doing some of Calibre's cleanup functions without doing a full convert.

Perfect, thanks. I use the Modify ePub plugin all the time. I'll just leave the "delete .xpgt file" checked so I don't have to think about it.

The big margin for chapter headers is in the CSS. The xpgt file can only set outside margins.

As for the big chater header margins, I tents to change them to .8em top and bottom because I don't like all that wasted screen space that does nothing for me. It doesn't even look good.

It works very well, I use it a lot. It helps me fix/remove/modify things that I'd just be doing by hand. As to what it does, have a look in the thread about it in the plugins forum in the Calibre section.

Actually, it's a plugin you SHOULD use for every ePub (that once had DRM) even if it's just for getting rid and the Adept.expected.resource line from the XML files. It's not needed at all because if it's there, the ePub has had the DRM removed

Not quite true.

Code:
   <fo:layout-master-set>
      <fo:simple-page-master master-name="single_column" margin-bottom="2em"
         margin-top="2em" margin-left="2em" margin-right="2em">
         <fo:region-body/>
      </fo:simple-page-master>

David

PDF and E-comic problem on 2.6.1

I have a Kobo Glo and update it to 2.6.1b , the problem with refresh in zoomed PDF an E-comic remains for me, but much less agressive than 2.5.1, while you hold the page to scroll, remains only one residual image. It disaperars after relese the screen, after the auto refresh. But the image is unreadable while you hold the screem, even the mini image at the top left corner is all messed.
Any one still having this problem, or only me?
Sorry for my english
Tks

Well yes, it can set a large outside margin, but chapter headers margins are set in the CSS. The xgpt cannot set the bottom margin of a chapter header and the margin in the xpgt is the top margin of the page. So that would put the chapter header at the top of the page if that margin was used.

I have not seen one ePub that puts the chapter header at the top of the page's margin. If you have, please tell me what eBook this is.

I have seen ebooks where the page-template.xpgt file was used to set a large top margin on the first page of a chapter so the chapter started half way down the first page. The two margins were additive. The example I quoted was for the generic file which gives you a 2em margin on all 4 sides of the page. Even if you set every margin in the stylesheet and/or body of the file to 0's, you will still get those margins.

Regards,
David
