The specs for USB 2 are 0.5A. Computers have a resettable fuse of either 0.6A per ports or 1.2A per pair of ports. Dedicated chargers around 1A have a resistor on the data lines to identify it.

I'm noticing some strange charging behavior with my Aura. On the last charge I started from a "Charge your battery now" state using my usual 1-amp charger. I left it on the Sleep screen, which has the charge status shown in the Sleeping box. I came back after a bit more than an hour, and it showed 49% charge. Then I came back again after almost 3 hours, and it showed... still 49%! I turned it on and then put it back to sleep in case it needed to update. Still showing 49%. Disconnected and re-connected the charger - suddenly it updated to 96%. Went away and left it another half hour, came back and it showed 100%. Strange... why did it stick at 49%?

Don't have an answer as to why, but I've seen a few people mention recently that they have seen the meter stick at 49% as well. Seemed to be charging still, just the meter that was sticking.
