Sony only turns page with horizontal or vertical swipe which are not easily confused with long or short touches. I think part of Kobo poor touch to turn page response is preventing double page turns with touch just long enough while not too long or short. Only problem I have with Sony swipe to turn page is sometimes it somehow registers as pinch zoom causing a loop of 3 or more pages. This shows all e-readers have their own interface glitches. (avoiding calling it a B--)

Weird. I've never had a problem with the Aura and page turn swipes. Perhaps I naturally press a little harder.

The system is infrared beams, so pressing harder wouldn't make any difference.
Swipes on the Sony work with the slightest thumb movement, and it even works if you brush the screen diagonally, nothing even close to a horizontal swipe. The Kobo seems to need specific horizontal swipes for me and longer in length before it triggers a page turn. |

Did you ever consider that was to minimize and filter undesired input? Bugs cause your Sony to change pages, do you also consider that correct behavior for a device not designed to operate only inside a mosquito netting? :-)
I think you need to adapt a bit. Somewhere between a short tap and a long press exists the Kobo page turning tap sweet spot. Possibly more elusive than the Grafenburg spot for many... |

My main problem with the Aura is the larger bezel makes it harder to tap or swipe onehanedly in the right spot. Helen |

Heh, heh. I had the funniest mental image of a bunch of engineers from Neonode in a lab trying different condiments on a Kobo ereader and taking bets on whether A1 steak sauce passed more IR than Hunt's or Heinz 57...

The number of times it takes me 2-4 swipes to turn the page on the Kobo, 50% of the time. I'll choose the device where a bug can turn a page and the rest of the time I can use the slightest thumb movement on the first try. Yes, I adapt to the Kobo because I love the light, but page turns are still unresponsive and slow compared to the Sony and I really don't see a reason for it. So if Kobo intentionally did that to prevent the occasional bug turning a page, they overdid something and not for the better. |

If you're confident that you've tried a variety of different lengths & locations of press/types of swipe and you're still getting this problem on 50% of page turns, there is something very wrong with your Kobo. Have you tried a full reset just to see if that helps? Is it under warranty?

It's only about 2 months old, and I thought of that too, but taps works pretty well. It's just swipes that don't work consistently. I've had to do a factory reset once and that didn't help the swiping issue at all.
I'd really hate to try and go through a return for this issue, I really don't think I'd get anywhere with it considering their customer service. |
