Updating annotations
I should know this but I don't. What is happening when I have the Glo connected to the Kobo Desktop and the message says "Updating annotations"?
This used to go quickly before I updated to the new firmware, but now it's been going for 55 minutes. The little Sync icon keeps spinning, but I don't know what else is happening. I don't annotate my books, so what could it be updating? OK, it could be checking the Finished/Reading % status of the books, but I have fewer than 200 books so this shouldn't take that long. Is this length of time normal? Thanks for any help. It's now been over an hour. |

I have 4 Keypub and 4 epubs on my Kobo touch and the progress bar doesn't move when I connect to Kobo desktop software. Doesn't really matter as no update has shown up. Wifi sync still happens at normal relative fast rate. When I reset to factory state it updates and syncs same old rate without up dating to latest firmware. Last week I was watching paint dry which is faster than getting update to 2.6.1. I could paint my house before getting latest firmware update.

Kobo does seem to have a rather lackadaisical attitude with regards to its software. Regards, Tom |

1. factory reset your Kobo ereader 2. completely remove the desktop application and then reinstall it. It is just too reminiscent of all the time I tell the computer users to just reboot the computer and see if it works. A complex solution where you understand what is causing the problem is, esthetically, so much more satisfactory. Regards, David |

LOL, David. Years back, I worked (very, very briefly) for a computer store where the only thing the tech folks were supposed to do, in most cases, was replace the mother board or reformat the hard drive. Apparently it was cheaper for them to do that than it was to actually troubleshoot and fix problems--especially when the computers were under warranty and whatever they did would be done at no charge. It wasn't a good fit for me.
