It's just odd that when I use this card directly at Kobo there was no charge, but using it via Paypal had a charge.

if I pay by credit card yes. If I pay by PayPal through Instant Transfer which comes from my bank account then no.

Well don't hold out on us, what'd you buy???

I won $5 at Amazon and goodness, how long is it taking me to decide where to spend it... of course looking at not-so-bargain books since it's free money, but that just makes it harder to decide. I started a new "to buy next" shelf on GR, but it's not really helping.

I hear you! I started a 'series wish list' shelf on GR. You know, so I could concentrate on finishing out series...only I keep buying NEW books that are series starts or a part of one, so that shelf is quickly getting as out of hand as my regular ole wish list

You'd think I'd get it through my head that if I DIDN'T spend .99 on 3-4 books, then I could spend that money on a series book. But new bargain books are like shiny objects... they distract and wow you so you HAVE TO HAVE IT

The Sweethearts' Knitting Club by Lori Wilde.
It's book one of the Twilight Texas series. I think the title of the book put me off into reading it. It's really about a hero who just got out of prison after being sent there in his youth and he returns to town to claim the only woman he ever loved. I don't know why but I love this type of trope.

As soon as I read a review I just knew this had to be good with Lori's in depth characterization and with another tortured hero in it.

Okay the Library now has it.

Thank goodness I'm only at the beginning so I don't feel guilty for returning it. Once I get my refund I will buy the second book as no library has it and they didn't add it when I asked. You gotta love the Kindle Return Policy. This is probably just the 5th book out my huge 4500 archive I've ever returned.

This isn't exactly a romance, but Susan Howatch's _The Wheel Of Fortune_ is $1.99 at Amazon. For years this was my favorite book; it's a family saga and romance, murder, madness, and other dramatics abound. Howatch is an expert in using multiple points of view to tell a story; it's amazing to read.

I remember reading Elaine Raco Chase back when I used to read category romances in the 1980's. It sounds like she is updating her books by making them spicier, but not necessarily changing the period details.

I'm really struggling with 7. I like Hector but so far I haven't really connected with the heroine or the story line. It's darker than the others.

I liked Book 4, Book 1 and Book Six the best.
