I'm on the fourth Psy-Changelings book and it's darker than the third, IMO.

I agree, the A&E/BBC adaptation with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is just divine. I have the DVDs and, before I got my Kindle, I used to watch it every year. It is very true to the book; even some of the dialogue is word for word.

This is just my strong opinion but I detest the one with Keira Knightley; I think it's awful the liberties they took with it. I had to pretend I was watching a regular movie the whole time I watched it

100% agree. I hated Knightley's performance - I thought she was just *shrill*. It seemed more like Taming of the Shrew than Pride & Prejudice.

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised with the Darcy portrayal. Not true to the book, but making him more shy than proud was a twist I wouldn't have considered (and I think the actor's handsome, too, although not as swoonworthy as Firth's Darcy )

As for P&P, I own both the 1995 and 2005 versions as well as the 1980 mini-series. The 1995 mini-series is by far my favorite but each production has its high points. I wasn't a fan of MacFayden's Darcy but can see why others are. My main issues were

Spoiler:

the pigs in the house (the Bennets were poor but still part of the upper class) and I thought they totally miswrote the character of Mrs. Bennet. Also having the Bennet parents be in love goes against everything about their relationship in the book.

I'm not a total purist, but there are few things that go over the line for me

Thanks I haven't started the third book yet. I was planning to tonight but I found my neighbor putting junk on my deck. So I'm a little too steamed at the moment to read. Its too heavy for me to move have to wait for hubby.

Hmm, I would give the book a C-/D+. There were just too many factually incorrect things for me to set aside my disbelief and get into the story.

The fact the heroine was able to stop the Porsche she was a passenger in while it’s going over 90 mph on a road with hairpin turns in the opening sequence should have been an indication. Then there’s the fact the hero is in the CIA yet threatens to arrest her and is leading an investigation within the US. The heroine seems to be a Diabetic only when it’s convenient for the plot. And it is forgotten about otherwise. I also found it really odd that the hero believed so absolutely in the heroine’s guilt on very flimsy circumstantial evidence or that the heroine was so willing to go along with him. Then there's the addition of a British spy who is in love with the heroine. All of this is just in the first few chapters of the book. There's lots more.

And while I appreciated the author didn't add a lot of scenes from the villain's POV, it was obvious who he was pretty early on.

The heroine was a total Mary Sue, there is a lot of info-dumping, and the romance seemed forced.

On the other hand it was a quick read. I would be willing to give the author another try, just not with this particular series.
