I saw the middle of V for Vendetta last night (my husband was watching it-- I was trying to work on my manga) and thought it was interesting. Anyone else seen it?

Agent Smith and Amidala's acting was, as usual, missing, but even that didn't spoil it totally. Classic "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" stuff. |

Yes, a lovely tale. When you can't get people's attention to listen to reason, violence becomes fully justified. Thanks, I'll pass on that moral. But it was an entertaining movie.

Ahhh, I do like Watchmen! Talk about a bleak storyline.
Really looking forward to the movie, they seem to have the look down completely. Dialogue might be a problem though, haven't heard any actual words yet. Quote:

Not having seen the entire movie nor read the book (V again), I can't pass judgment on the moral. But it does seem to me that a movie or book can portray the acts of desperate people (even sympathetically) without necessarily justifying them. On the other hand, one can always play the "what if?" game-- if your response wouldn't be V's (or whoever-- fill in your movie character of choice here), what would it be? What would be more appropriate, more just, more effective, etc.? I don't know what I would do if trapped in a totalitarian society. I'd like to think that my actions would more resemble those of the Quakers in Nazi Germany than V's, but how can I know how I would react to torture or the abduction of my loved ones? |

Any more good movies for tonight? How about some cult movies? I've only seen Barbarella and Donnie Darko (pretty cool but a bit rude for me) that might qualify. I've completely forgotten the name of the classic cult movie with Susan Sarandon. Should I see that, do you think? |

Think I heard some bad rumors that Watchmen had been canceled/delayed. But I sure hope that is not the case, and watchmenmovie.com still states release for 03.06.09 (In 170 days)

As a classic, how about The Belles of St. Trinians (1954). Or for a cult how about Blues Brothers (I know I've already suggested it..)? Failing that, how about Dark Star (1974) |

Never, ever, EVER see the movie High Crusade! I was looking to see if the highly amusing and wonderful book by Poul Anderson is electrified yet (it is not) and came across a Blu Ray for the movie. Same title. No resemblence other than the aliens are ble and there are people wearing armor and waving swords. Nasty, horrible, nauseating movie. Should be destroyed.
