New firmware on the way?

The release notes for the latest calibre version 0.9.34 has the following new feature:

Kobo driver: Support for the newly released firmware 2.6.1. Also remove empty shelves from the Aura HD home page when deleting books.

Yes, 2.6.1 is supposed to have been released today. I have been waiting for the screams of outrage/joy/confusion/why-didn't-I-get-it to come.

I just tried a sync; it hasn't made it to the Netherlands yet

From what I can tell, so far the release is so limited that most folks will be wasting their time trying to get it right now.

I have two devices (GLO) and one device has received the update so far.

No "release notes".. QUICK Observations:

Totally different Home screen as it now has folders for "Previously Read", "Reading Life" (something I have no use for), Currently Reading" and "Recommended" displayed. Light Brightness icon at top of page as well as battery life & WIFI status (new pie shaped icon), plus a search bar across the top.
Top line no longer has Book Title displayed when reading.

Try a very long tap on those icons; you should get a pop-up to either Open or Dismiss the tile. The only one not to give that option is the Sync tile.

Could you post a snapshot of the home screen?

Just curious to how it is going to look when the rest of us receive it lol.

While I personally am super happy to see this, I know some users liked the book title on top. Have you seen an option to have it in the settings ?

No such option. The only option we have ever had with the Kobo f/w and display choices is to show / not show the ADE page number on the right hand side of the contents. See Reading Settings | Page Numbers in Margins.

Someone has it finally gotten it. What I know about the firmware:

- The new home screen from the Aura HD is on the Glo. It is not on the Touch and I don't think it is on the Mini.

- There is a new setting for getting notifications from Kobo on the home screen. It is new to the Glo, but maybe it was already there on the Aura HD.

- Selecting a link to a web site in an epub will open it in the browser.

- Title no longer displayed when reading epubs.

- SD card seems to be faster when inserted or restarting with it installed.

- Opening shelf list seems to be faster.

- Sleep cover for books on SD card is fixed.

- Sideloaded kepubs on the SD card will appear on the home new screen.

I am sure there are other things, but those are what I have seen.

Yes, 2.5.2 on the Aura already has this.

Really interesting so far.
I really don't like the title bar. It distracts me way to much.
I am very interested in that new homescreen on the Glo.

Anyone got a download link to the firmware already?

Is there a way to keep this thing from automatically downloading my latest purchases when doing a sync? It's annoying as I'd rather not have anything downloaded unless I specifically tell it to, like I do with any other reader or app. A couple of the books were already sideloaded to my device and now they're on there twice due to this.
