Rough Guide
'Nuff said.

You be careful and watch over your shoulder there in ATL, OK? That's one mean airport!

Dixie ... you're adventures sound an awful lot like mine. I thought I was the only one that major disasters seemed to target, but no .... there are at least two of us!!

Makes me feel a lot better.

The Airtran portion of ATL is actually quite nice, except for the aggressive credit card / airtran hawkers. "YO!, you flyin' Airtran t'day? C'mon git-cha free flight!".

Glad to help make you feel better! Our level of Champion clumsiness is not normal. I've broken bones in airports in numbers that can only be off the scale above average. IS there an average number of broken bones occurring in airports? My sister says she is going to wrap me in bubble wrap and just mail me to my vacation destinations.

And the most skilled baggage people from Atlanta are hired by the Postal Service to train their parcel people. Good luck in your bubble wrap.

I totally agree with you on that one! I think they probably go to downtown Atlanta, pick a Peach Tree Street, hire the first few bangers they come across to be the baggage handlers, and hire those guy's bosses as the security checkpoint people. Unfriendly doesn't even come close to describing the sorry state of affairs at ATL!

On a softer note, if you want to go to a *friendly* airport, hit up the Tokyo Narita Airport in Japan. At least there everybody is super courteous and helpful. Quick example, while I was waiting for my wife to make it through the security checkpoint, I guess her bottle of juice was a few milliliters too large to be acceptable, so instead of throwing away $1.50 she brought it back toward me. Well, the guard actually picked up her massive backpack, followed her to where I was waiting, and escorted her back through to the "safe" zone. Now tell me, how many other airports do you know of who would even let her think about giving the drink to a waiting family member, let alone leave the front of the line, carry her luggage, and ... let her right through after that? Not many I can think of!

Man, I miss the good ol days where you could escort family & friends to their departure gates or meet them right as their plane arrived at the terminal! Darn terrorists!
