It uses http://doc.trolltech.com/4.4/qdesktopservices.html to open files. I suspect that your getting the unresolved symbol because the binary modifies LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If you switch to using the non-binary version of calibre, it should work fine (of course at the moment the only way to do that with the beta is compile from source).

I am not sure if this is a design choice but moving pdf files to the device by using send to device, none of the meta information is transferred.
Is meta information only applicable for the lrf files? |

calibre doesn't write metadata to PDF files (too complicated), only to LRF, EPUB and RTF files. Still it does write the metadata into the devices metadata database, so for some reason your device is overwriting that metadata with what it gets from the PDF. I suspect datetime issues.

date tine issue meaning that the device and the comp have different dates? I think they are in sync. Should I open a ticket?

I'm using Gnome at home so maybe that's why the difference. In compiz when changing big quantities of metadata the cursor stays the same, but the program changes colour to black and white, which indicates it's busy or/and not responding.
When you import a 200+ books, I used multiple books per directory option, I lose screen refresh option it's the same, colour changes to black and white... When you update metadata with that title that produces a lot of hits, I used "The state of the art" I can't click cancel while it's working. So there's no way to stop fetching data for me. The cursor does change to busy. If I use metacity then the whole program stops refreshing in every turn, the only difference is that instead of non responsive black and white version you get a window that doesn't refresh at all so you can erase the content with dragging another window over it. And in examples like "The state of art" meta data when you try to guess meta data from just the title, if the title produces too many hits you have to kill the program or wait for ages. In my case I gave up after 10 minutes and killed it. |

New info on the pdf metadata problem:
In Calibre's tabs, it looks like it was transferred fine when you look at the books in the card or the main memory, but in the reader itself the metadata information doesn't' transfer. Thanks Last edited by bluesnews; 09-16-2008 at 02:31 AM. |

I've tried it with both and both have problems. The pdf files edited with a previous version (don't remember which) worked fine.
