PDF with Password
I have a PDF file that needs the password to open. I can read it on my Kindle Fire using the password but it's very annoying. Every time I turn the page, it has to be resized so I don't need a magnifying glass to read it. My e-ink Kindle is much nicer to read, but even after I open the file, it transfers to Calibre with the DRM. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

There are various programs that remove restrictions on PDF's. I use a program called A-PDF Restrictions Remover. It works great without stripping the PDF of its amenities and works straight through Windows Explorer. It's about $10 to download and use unlimited. You might be able to get it as a trial version if you only want it for a one time use.

without wishing to infringe rules...
PDF has 2 types of passwords 1 which controls whether you can open the document, and 1 which controls whether you can edit the document. the latter is easy to remove with various utilities, the former needs a brute force attack but it can be done. I would say look for a non-protected source |

Quite a few places will do it online, and since the password is KNOWN, that means it only needs a remover, not a cracker. It sounds like it may be a "user" password, as it's required to open, rather than an "owner" password for derestricting.
Also possible to find some good free tools, without messing with trials Google, & About.com, are your friend (though one of the 7 - an online one, has died of linkrot) |

if the password in known - then its trivial to fix - I would just open in pdf exchange and then save a copy with no password. I don't use adobe reader but surely that will also allow you to save an unprotected copy ??? Then send that copy to Kindle

Thanks for your help. I found a much better PDF reader for my Kindle Fire than the one from Adobe. It's called qPDF Viewer and it's free. The file I was trying to read was part of the Hugo reader's packet and I have the password. The problem was that the adobe reader left the printing very small with lots of blank space and no way to adjust it except page by page. Ugh. I still can't read it on an eInk Kindle, but at least now it's not such a PIA. Thanks again.
