Question Adobe Digital Editions & Kobo touch - sort out the books

My digital editions folder seems to be overflowing, with some books now I really don't want.
Old library books, books i added and long since read, smashwords books ( with no title just numbers) etc.

Is it possible to sort it out?

The past year ever since I have had Adobe digital editions it has frozen every time I opened it. So can't do much there.
Wanted to try and sort it out before I buy even more books.

Make friends with Apprentice Alf, get your books into Calibre, and sort them out from there. You can then add shelves (check the stickies in the Kobo forum) and manage your Kobo Touch shelves straight from Calibre.

If you install the Kobo extended driver, you can use calibre to transfer books with drm to your Kobo reader. It is one of the driver options.

@Taming: I thought you could also do that with the regular driver... I think all that option does in the extended driver is to prevent it from Kobo'fying it.

You may be right; if so I didn't notice it. It is a very nice option to have. I would also be inclined to uninstall Adobe and reinstall using the newest version. I have a hard time getting my head around having a huge number of books with ADE encryption on them. I have about 400, I think, but I have never been an all ya can eat freebie kind of reading gal.

The device still needs to be authorized through ADE.

Sounds good but calibre seems complicated to me. Need easy instructions

Blowing my own horn a bit, here is a good place to start. It needs some updating, but in the main is accurate.

Thank you. I don't know how much it gets used, and one of these days I really should update it to include some of the newer features, but I think that, as a basic primer, it's pretty good.

Also don't my Kobo books have to always be in my digital editions folder to work?

No. Kepub will be downloaded to ".kepub/epub". Sideloaded books can be put anywhere except the .kepub directory. Though I haven't put an ePub with DRM in it on my Kobo's for ages, so maybe they have a special place they need to be.

So very pleased. It will be very useful.
Next going to re install adobe digital and hope it is faster.
But am finding my Kobo touch very slow to add books to and also ever slower when I first switch it on and tap on a cover.
