It may. Possibly. Perhaps. With the addition of the Kobo spans that I already do, it should, but if not I'd like to hear about it and see the book (or at least the content file from inside the book) that isn't working.

Hi, I've been using my Kobo without this plugin for awhile, so I was just reading off the epub version of my sideloaded books.

Since I found out about this plugin, I instantly installed it to try it out, and I like the new things I see in my books now! (I'm guessing it's from kepub compatibility?)
So thanks for the plugin!

I have two quick questions about changes I didn't like that I noticed...
1) When the books were ePubs it would pagebreak on every new chapter, now it just has the next chapter pick off where the last one leaves off, even if it's in the middle of the same page.

2) The navigation button? (<-->) only navigates the few pages inside of the current chapter now, but before it would let you scroll through the whole book.

I was wondering if these are just features of kepub, and I need to deal with them.
Or if there are any features in Calibre or this plugin that I can mess with to get my desired results. (Chapter Pagebreak, and Navigating through the entire book)

Sorry if either of these were already asked.
And if the answer isn't quick to type out, or it was wrong for me to ask this question here, then feel free to ignore them.

I still stand by the "Thanks for the plugin" statement I made though!

===============

Edit:
Thanks for the answers BobC and jgoguen!

Plus all those options are part of the function supplied by the KoboTouch driver. They are defined in the early posts of https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=192863.

A "Preview" is a sample of the book that you found in the Kobo shop and downloaded. A "Recommendation" is a book that Kobo decided you might like based on what you have bought from them, what you have looked at in the shop and the books they want to sell you. If you want to see these types of books in the device list, select the options and they will be shown.

And, I just realised, the info is a couple of weeks out of date. The "Show expired books" is now "Show archived books". If you buy books from the Kobo shop, they get downloaded to the device. If you want to free up space, but still have an entry in the library for them, you can archive them. This deletes the file from the device but keeps the info. This option will allow the user to hide or show them as they desire.

There should be << and >> buttons to each side of the slider. These take you back and forward a chapter at a time. I find it an easier way to move between nearby chapters without going to the TOC.

I believe a chapter on the device corresponds to a file inside the KePub. So if you have a book with a chapter split into two files, the device will display it as two separate chapters. I very strongly doubt there's anything that could be done automatically, even through calibre; you'll probably have to edit the book in Sigil and manually move content around.

To elaborate on what BobC said, you should now see two sets of arrows. The < and > buttons will move you within the chapter (and they will move you between chapters if you're at the start or end) and the << and >> buttons move you backwards and forwards by an entire chapter at a time.

These are the KePub way of doing things, and I can't change them.

Not for what your problems are. If your chapters were too long, calibre could probably help with its conversion tools. Your problem is the opposite, which 'm fairly certain only some manual work with Sigil will solve.

Thanks. I understand what Previews and Recommendations *are*, I'm just not sure *where* they're shown in the context of this plugin setting. Are you saying by enabling this option in the plugin that the recommendations and previews from my Kobo will be shown in the Calibre Library when the device is connected?

If you click the Device button in calibre they're shown in that list.

No, they are shown in the device list. When the device is connected, there is an icon in the toolbar for the reader. Press that, and it lists all the books on the device, including books not in the library. These options hide/show things that can be seen when using the device, but might not be considered "real" books.

One things is that if these options are selected, and you have a book in your calibre library that has the same author and title, it will be shown in the library as being on the device.

Ahh, that explains why my Calibre showed Lee Child - Tripwire was shown as on the device, even thought I knew it wasn't -it's because it's in my Library and on my Recommendation list

Not sure why you'd want Previews and Recommendations to show in the device list in Calibre?
