I made it "shelfname". Does it need to be "#shelfname" in the driver settings?

Thanks again, I have it all set up as I like now. It worked as soon I added the "#". I did have to reload the books.

Is there any way to automatically delete empty shelves on the Kobo?

You should not have needed to, simply connecting should have done the updates to the shelves. If you make changes to the series names or shelves otherwise, and they are not reflected on the device after the next connection, can you tell me so I can look at it.

There is an option in the driver configuration to do this. I'll let you guess which one

I'm slightly confused - I have Calibre 0.9.32 and 1.4.0 of this plugin. Do I still need to extract a kepub.js file from somewhere and manually load it into the plugin?

Testing again today, with the 1.4.0 plugin.
I get this error now: (Wrapped in spoiler for those not interested)
Spoiler:
calibre, version 0.9.32
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

(I tried both with and without the "Cleanup ePub Markup" option.)

It seems all the other books worked without problems. (Some of them even larger and just as complex.) This "problem book" works with the regular Kobo Touch plugin/as a plain ePub.

The spacing and such is nice now!

PS! I assume I have to remove and re-send the books to the device to utilize the new version of the plugin, as it converts/injects code upon sending.(?)

Yes, you do have to re-send the books. You shouldn't have to remove the book first unless you've started reading it. If you've started reading the book, you need to take note of your position, remove the book, re-send it, then manually go back to where you were.

Thanks, got that bit working, but for the life of me I can't get my books sent using Calibre to show cover. Just a small dot/square appears at the bottom right of where the cover should be.

I tried:

1) Send to Device in Calibre
2) Eject Device
3) Disconnect Cable
4) Wait for Aura HD to process content
5) Reconnect device
6) Wait for Calibre to finish jobs
7) Eject Device again

I've tried with the plugin setting "Upload covers" on and off, same result?

The only time I've seen this happen is when the book has no cover defined. Typically a cover is the first page, but the device requires a cover to be explicitly defined. Almost all books have this and I just need to tweak a value. Are you able to send me any of the books that don't have covers? If not, can you open a book and send me the file that has the extension '.opf'? An ePub is just a fancy ZIP file, so if you add '.zip' as the extension to any book you can open it as a ZIP file and copy the OPF file out that way.

After that, can you try converting one book with calibre to ePub format and make sure to tell calibre to make a cover, see if that works when uploaded?

Whilst waiting on your reply I converted 2 problem books from epub to epub in Calibre. Both then showed the cover fine on the Aura HD. On a 3rd book, I used the "Modify ePub" plugin to replace the cover without re-converting, and again the cover showed fine.

A few things I'm unsure of with the plugin (apologies, I'm new to Kobo having had Kindles for years):

What exactly to the following plugin settings do:

Upload Cover
Set Series
Show Previews
Show Recommendations
Upload Cover in Black & White

Also, any idea why sometimes Calibre detects my HD as "Kobo Touch/Mini/Glo" and other times as "Kobo Aura HD"? This can happen within 2 connects, with no changes in settings -i.e. connect HD, get "Touch/Mini/Glo detected", eject device, re-connect immediately and get "Aura HD detected".

Also any idea why my HD homescreen often has black tiles that just say "Downloading" in them?

Thanks for all your help.

What exactly does extracting the .kepub file from an official Kobo book and putting it in the plugin's config directory do?

You don't have to extract anything, you just need a DRM free kepub, rename it to reference.kobo.epub and put it in the plugin's dir.

From that moment the extended driver will extract the proprietary JavaScript file from the reference kepub and inject it in the converted epubs, thus enabling a better positioning of annotations and bookmarks in the books.

Thanks. Does that solve the old issue of the book jumping forward/back a few pages from the last read position?
