Sold my Kobo Original

I sold my Kobo Original e-reader on Trade Me (New Zealand's biggest auction site) for NZ$83 (US$67 at today's rate).

It was in perfect condition, with original box, manual and USB cable.

I thought I did pretty well to get that price. What do others think?

Well done! That does seem a good price.

Does the current Desktop still support it? (I've given my original away, but still have a WiFi).

As far as I know the current desktop app supports the original Kobo. I hadn't used my original since I got my Glo for Christmas, so I can't say for sure.

That sounds like a really good price to fetch. I'm pretty sure that a friend paid less for hers from a major retailer (in Canada) and that's roughly the price of a Kobo Mini these days.

Maybe it was one of those buttons at all costs people who bought it.

That could well be the reason!

$83 is a great price, considering there were recent specials on the Mini for $59-$79 brand new. People have funny reasons for buying things though, some want to replace a broken device with the exact same model rather than learn to use a new one.

It's not just learning how to use a new one. There's doing the research to figure out what you should buy. I've helped tech-illiterate friends shop for computers before and it's easy to see why they'd find researching the purchase of a new device frustrating. Most of those friends were easy prey for salesmen who tried to up-sell them. A few friends were setting themselves up for a bad purchase by placing form before function. Either way, they ended up feeling ripped off when they had to shop on their own because they felt as though they paid way too much or got way too little. (Incidentally, they were very smart people. It's just that their smarts were elsewhere.)

So yeah, I can see why people would want to get the same model again.
