Question about removing dupes today.
Hey everyone, I have a question regarding the Remove Dupe feature.

Is there any way that I can somehow click something and have it highlight every other book, or one book in a group so that I could automatically delete them in bulk that way?

I ask because at the moment I am currently sorting through 5,195 duplicates, and I'd like there to be a faster way.


I know that there's the dupe-finder that pops up when you add books, but that doesn't work too well, especially when the book title is the author's name and the author is the book title. 'Kim Harrison' by 'Dead Witch Walking' and 'Kim Harrison' by 'Pale Demon' aren't the same book.


Any guidance would be great! Thank you. =)

Never trust something that Automatically destroys something

A detected 'dupe' doesn't test on as many levels as Eyeball Mk II and brain does.

Differing Formats (Merge instead of delete?)
Covers and Metadata (Choose)
Size (Is it word crap or an Artistic styling form? Plain Text vs Styled HTML)
Version (Original 1950's vs the 20xx revised )
Other


Use the Grouping setting, pound on 10-20 at a time, and soon they will be done.

Looking at a list of a K or 2 is daunting.

And yeah, you're absolutely correct about the daunting aspect of so many duplicates, haha!! By the way, if I were to auto-merge books, wouldn't it merge books incorrectly as I listed above?

Basically what I do is highlight groups of 100, select all, hold down 'Control', and uncheck books. So much quicker.

IMHO Yep!

I would prefer a little more matching control (closer to Find Duplicates) You do get basic Merge Preference choices (Preferences: Adding books)

Now that my Library dust has settled, the Manual merge process is pretty straight forward when I need it.
